You will see large percentage increases in home sales activity in these year over year numbers. The reason being last March was the start of Covid and everything literally came to an abrupt stop. So this year when compared to last year the difference in the numbers is huge. The market is hot! Demand high. Inventory very low.

Who remembers The Golden Girls? I loved that show. I didnt think much about their living setup back then because i was laughing too hard at their antics. Here is a real life scenario. These ladies refer to themselves after that TV show by the same name , The Golden Girls. They have found a creative way to retire and live together as they move into their next act as its often been referred to. Co-ownership is a concept i am certain we will be hearing and reading more abou...t in the coming years. With affordability being a huge issue going forward what gives some seniors the best possible life scenario? Logistically there are advantages and disadvantages to both. Have a read and let your imagination consider some of these. As always please reach out to me to discuss any aspects of the Downsizing process. [email protected]

Thinking of Downsizing? Dont know where to start? This article has a couple of great takeaways. My number one takeaway to get started w decluttering is do the easy stuff first, the things you know you dont want. It starts the process plus i will bet it gives you some real confidence that progress is being made. And Its just less emotional.

This article makes some really good points. Todays Baby Boomers dont all necessarily want to Downsize instead some choose to Rightsize or I have even heard the term Smartsize. Choices are often moderste square footage one floor living., the bungalow. Moving to rural or smaller towns and cities allow for more home for the money and many are looking at this as an option. https://www.everythingzoomer.com//relocating-move-downsize/

EXCERPT FROM GLOBE AND MAIL/Rob Carrick Frustration for first-time home buyers The pandemic was bad for housing affordability, and things look to get worse in 2021. Housing was powered to a large extent by falling interest rates, which won’t fall further in the year ahead unless the economy takes a disastrous turn for the worse. Meantime, forecasters are calling for average price increases in the 5-per-cent to 6-per-cent range.... A buoyant market could place Toronto alongside Vancouver as a city where the average cost of a home is $1-million or more. Halifax seems poised to cross into the $400,000 range for average prices. Kamloops, B.C., is on the verge of crossing the $500,000 mark. And Ottawa has a chance of getting to the $600,000 range. There are bunches of affordable small communities across the country, but the desire to move to these locations could decline as the pandemic disappears. A reopened economy deconstructs the pandemic paradigm of home buying, which is to take advantage of remote work and range far afield to find spacious housing. If urban living makes a comeback in 2021, a lot of young buyers are going to find it unaffordable. Rents fell in pricey cities such as Vancouver and Toronto during the pandemic, offering some much-needed relief if you couldn’t afford a house or didn’t want to own. Expect rents to start rising again as more people return to work. Personal finance columnist Rob Carrick.

It has certainly been a year like no other! With a vaccine on its way we can at least see a light at the end of the tunnel. There has been a lot of drama no doubt, a lot in our personal lives, our work routines and worry about our economic status both personally and as a country. More than ever our homes have become our sanctuary our safe place, and we are upgrading our homes and accelerating our moving plans. We have really come to appreciate our safe harbour in these tur...bulent times. It has become clear that our homes really are more to us than just a safe investment. The good news is we have all had more time to connect with our immediate families. We have increased appreciation for the value of time spent together. Coffee, lunch or dinner with friends and extended family is now a luxury which we hope to experience again soon in 2021. We have much hope for 2021 and some return to what is normal. It has been our privilege and pleasure to have helped you and your friends and families over the years. With much gratitude, Luci
