It is common to encounter different forms of AI disease in a single affected family, so for breeding purposes they should be treated as a single health issue. Affected dogs should not be bred. Healthy dogs which produce multiple affected offspring, particularly with different mates, should be withdrawn from breeding. Breeders should do pedigree research to determine how much AI disease risk their breeding dogs have and where risks high make mating choices which will reduce risk in the puppies. Autoimmune thyroiditis (hypothyroidism), Inflammatory Bowel Disease, lupus, and pemphigus. Less frequently encountered diseases include, Addison’s Disease, autoimmune testicular atrophy, degenerative myelopathy, dermatomyositis, exocrine pancreatic insufficiency, glomerulonephritis, idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura, immune mediated hemolytic anemia, Legg-Calvé-Perthes, myasthenia gravis, sterile pyogranuloma/granuloma syndrome, uveodermatologic syndrome, and vitiligo.

Are you aware of #2621? She was one of the dogs seized on April 25, 2007 at Michael Vick's property. She was a black female pit bull, who was overly and forcibl...y bred to the point that she’d turned violent. The ASPCA led team was not able to evaluate her because of the severe psychological trauma she had suffered. Less than two weeks later, on October 1, a court ordered that #2621 be euthanized. She was given a lethal injection of sodium pentobarbital. Within minutes, her suffering was ended. She died without a name. We should never forget #2621. #ADFCSTRONG See more
