Organic farming is a method of working with the land, rather than against it. It is about understanding the ecosystem that we are inherently a part of and how w...e can walk gently upon it. It is about learning the natural systems that operate within the land; from the microscopic (e.g bacteria) to the macroscopic scales (e.g weather). Many people are transitioning to organic farming as they learn about the negative impacts of conventional farming practices. For example: pesticide, herbicide and fertilizer use leeching into waterways, heavy machinery and tilling causing topsoil degradation, and monocultures reducing biodiversity and pest resistance in crops. Thankfully, there is lots of research going into regenerative and organic practices that can build up our precious topsoil, increase biodiversity and plant health, and create nutrient rich foods! Here is a list of our Certified Organic Farmers: Forstbauer Family Natural Food Farm Oyster & King J&E Egg Farm Farm Circle Organic Collective Langley Organic Growers PLUS many more of our vendors are organic (just not certified), no spray, or transitioning. We encourage you to ask them about their practices, as they are passionate about their craft and willing to share the information! Getting to know your farmer is what's so special about the markets!

Berries are in season, we have lots of wild pick areas on the farm. Need to wait for a dry spell as with the crazy amount of rain lately, they aren’t as tasty. Getting ready for the Coquitlam Market this Sunday. It’s going to be sunny all day! #luckysunfarm #growfromseed #alexaugustyniak

Working on our new growing areas. Clearing huge stumps and finding some exceptional soil. Starting to solarize beds 9,10 and 11. On this property I’m finding it best to use 30’ x 50’ beds. #luckysunfarm #growfromseed
