Is it safe to cook with the Lucky Iron Fish when I am preparing meals for my whole family? We get asked variations of this question all the time! The short answer is: yes this is safe for your family. The Lucky Iron Fish/Leaf releases gentle amounts of easily absorbable iron and is therefore safe to use for most individuals including pregnant and nursing mothers. ... We have not tested for use in infants under 7 months. According to Canadian Paediatric Society guidelines, most infants do not require an iron supplement. If a baby's physician determines the baby requires an iron supplement then the choice of supplements should be discussed and determined by the physician. We do not recommend using it if you have a hemoglobin variant such as Hemochromatosis, which is a genetic disorder that makes it difficult for the body to deal with iron. Got rust on your Lucky Iron Leaf or Fish? No problem! Just rub it with some lemon, then scrub with dish soap like you normally do. This should help lift off any rust particles with ease. Remember to thoroughly dry the Leaf or Fish after washing it. Leftover moisture is often what causes discolouration or rust. Then finish off with a few drops of the Protection Oil and you're all set!
