A difficult piece of wood I struggled with. It was soft in areas which did not lend well to carving, like trying to carve a sponge. I began to call it a broken piece of wood in my head when referring to it. The knot, which itself partly fell out only reinforced this feeling and look. There were lots of unwanted tear outs by the end of it but they get lost in the overall pattern. Much like life’s flub-ups getting lost and smoothed over upon reflection of ones past. . #brokenthings #memorypalace
