#rpj #joydays I did a thing. Today, March 26th, is Make your own Holiday day. I decided to create one! I’ve submitted the request to the @natdaycal and the list site Brownielocks and will be submitting it to the authority of special day aggregators, Chase’s Calendar of Events. I need an act of legislature to make it an official day, but maybe I can make that happen in the future!... My day? Celebrate Joy Day, #joydays. The date? June 27th, honouring my late mom’s birthday. We should do something that brings us joy every day, but having a designated day helps us to remember that joy exists, even in tough times, and we can intentionally engage with family, friends and others around joyful activities. As a photographer I can help others receive a record of a joy day in front of my camera. My hope is that we fill our lives and our social media feeds with joy, to counteract the negative energy that seems to lurk at every corner. #rpj #inspire I found this frame in a corner of my parent’s garage, left behind by an unknown previous owner, and knew it was intended for me. It sat in my house for a few years, empty, without a destiny, until I took my daughter for this photoshoot. Something about this photo, its calm, the sunlit strands of hair, that gives me a profound sense of joy and love for her. And I knew it would live in this frame. This photo and frame are now the feature of my den. The canvases on... the side, for scale, are 11x14. While we love our social media feeds, nothing can replace the impact that this has in my home. My daughter knows she is cherished; an important message on International Women’s Day, and we cherish her everyday through this display.
