A great new study out of the Bagot Lab! Whether stress leads to depression could be determined by how your brain is wired! Dr. Bagot and her team studied the link between the activity of the hippocampus/nucleus accumbens pathway, the response to chronic stress, and the risk of anxiety and depression. The results were recently published in the prestigious journal Biological Psychiatry. ... Highlight: High activity in those brain regions in mice could lead to higher stress susceptibility and depression-like behaviours. Inflammation markers in a child's saliva may predict how they will react to their caregiver's stress, from impaired emotional functioning to ADHD. A new study from Ludmer PI, Dr. Patricia Silveira and her team. Les marqueurs d'inflammation présents dans la salive des enfants pourraient aider à prédire comment ceux-ci réagiront au stress perçu par leur proches aidants, d'un dysfonctionnement émotionel en passant par le TDAH. Software security needs to be on the minds of all researchers. Old software components and the inclusion of unnecessary code created a massive attack surface area in containers for scientific analysis, according to Tristan Glatard. We recommend reading this interview on his recent publication. Prof Glatard is an Associate Professor is the Canada Research Chair (Tier II) on Big Data Infrastructures for Neuroinformatics at Concordia University and an Adjunct Professor at the McGill CS - School of Computer Science and Adjunct Researcher @LudmerCentre . He developed Boutiques. a flexible framework for automated application integration in computing platforms. https://www.darkreading.com//containers-for/d/d-id/1339372

Double congratulations to Budhachandra Singh Khundrakpam. A Ludmer researcher at The Neuro (Montreal Neurological Institute-Hospital), he recently won a prestigious Young Investigator award from the New York-based Brain & Behavior Research Foundation (BBRF) for a two-year project, the Impact of substance use on adolescent brain development and mental health outcomes. A paper he co-authored also made this month’s cover of the journal Hippocampus, which shows an image from the paper: Altered hippocampal centrality and dynamic anatomical covariance of intracortical microstructure in first episode psychosis first author Carolina Makowski. Dr Khundrakpam is a research associate in the Ludmer Centre’s neuroimaging pillar, led by Ludmer Centre Scientific Director Alan Evans. https://reporter.mcgill.ca/mni-research-associate-wins-pres
