Lessons learned this week: To slow down One of the most common things I am seeing right now, is exhaustion. We are all a little tired and overwhelmed with all of the restrictions, changes, expectations, disappointments that we have endured this year. It’s ok to be disappointed that Christmas is going to be different. It’s ok to be frustrated that life is changing on a regular basis and that you don’t feel like you can keep up. It’s ok to be mad that you had such big plans for... this year and they have all been crushed or left by the wayside. This week was a great reminder that I don’t always have to be everything to everyone and that I need to take care of my loved ones and myself. My lesson (or aspiration) is to stop and smell the roses. Not a new concept, but the reminder I needed in order to be there for my family, to make sure that I am taking care of myself and that I am happy & fulfilled in my day-to-day life. It’s ok if I have to push something to tomorrow or next week if it means I am taking better care of my happiness and energy. Have you ever taken a strengths finder assessment? I’m not sure about you, but while building my business, I would find that I am really good at and enjoy managing certain parts of my business but other tasks would be a real struggle for me and I would get frustrated that those tasks were always holding me back. For the longest time, I used to think that I wasn’t ever going to be successful unless I figured out a way to overcome these hurdles, until I got the results from my ...first strengths finder assessment. It was a little freaky how well a simple test was able to pinpoint and shed some light on why I react the way I do, what comes really naturally to me and what I typically struggle with. Instead it's to remind myself that these tasks are harder for me and that I need to have a little grace with myself when working on the pieces or better yet, find someone else who can take these tasks off my plate so we are all working to our strengths.
