The LUNA Project 21.11.2020

Ahh...the November gales have finally arrived. 102km/h reported in Hamilton at 3pm. Some tents moments today in the yurt as the cold front roared through. We’re still standing. #yurtlife #lifeintheround

Finished building our new winter shelter for the cows yesterday...but they all seem to be fully enjoying this unseasonably warm weather instead. Huge shout out to all of you who have been supporting us on our journey here at LUNA. We couldn’t do any of this without you and because of you our animals have a loving forever home #grateful #highlandcow

If you still have some pumpkins on your doorstep, please consider donating them to a local farm before throwing them out. If you’re close to LUNA, please feel free to drop them off. Whole pumpkins preferred, carved pumpkins are welcome as well, please remove all wax, candles, toothpicks etc. Our cows and goats will be very thankful.

I think they’re digging their new scratching area.

The LUNA Project 09.10.2020

So this happened yesterday...our LUNA family just grew by six. Welcome to family!! Every animal we adopt here at LUNA has a job to do. We’ve been working hard over the past 15 years to help improve the biodiversity and health on our 80 acre farm. The cows have been helping to build soil by working their way through the fields eating and pooping, being moved almost every day. These new little goats don’t know it just yet, but their job will be to eat all those weeds the co...ws won’t, and to work the forest edge and floodplain to help remove invasive species and improve overall biodiversity. Even our chickens have an important job to help scratch all that ruminant poop, and move it around to look for tasty bugs. Always lots to do on a farm, and working with the animals is so much more efficient and sustainable than working with expensive machinery. So...a big welcome to our new LUNA employees, family and friends! The goats. #sustainable #agriculture #regenerative
