Looking Monday square in the face Buddha had a cut beside his incision that happened during surgery (not sure how) end it’s been fine but last night it started to look swollen and inflamed. I’m thinking it might need medication. I sent a photo to the surgeons and hopefully if we need anything they will just give it to us without charging for a visit. Happy Monday! ... Hemp Oil vs Fish Oil For a while I was confused about hemp oil vs fish oil because there’s so many misconceptions out there. It got to the point where I just stopped feeding fish oils all together and stuck to hemp oil and fed whole fish for their fatty acids. But this was wrong only because I wasn’t feeding enough whole fish so they were lacking their essential omegas. Fish oil provides essential omega 3 fatty acids such as EPA and DHA.... Hemp seed oil provides an omega 3 fatty acid such as ALA. However ALA shouldn’t be relied on for EPA/DHA which can be found in fish oil (The mistake I made). Whole fish is an excellent (and in my opinion best) way for them to get their essential omegas, however sometimes it’s not realistic that you will always have fish on hand, so I’ll be rotating between whole fish and fish oil. One of the common issues with fish oil is that it can oxidize before it even gets into your house. So here are some ways you can avoid it going bad: 1 Only purchase 4 week quantities (don’t bulk buy) 2Buy a product with a glass container and solid in colour to avoid the light penetrating. 3Avoid added flavours. 4Keep it refrigerated. This may cause it to thicken but I’d rather deal with that then have all my oil go bad. You can tell if it’s gone bad by putting some between your fingers and if it feels sticky then it’s bad. If you don’t like feeding oils, here are some whole food alternatives: Hemp (ALA) Flaxseeds Chia seeds Hemp seeds Fish (EPA/DHA) Atlantic Mackerel Herring Canned Sardines Pink Salmon I started feeding raw 4 years ago without any knowledge and just running off of the fact it made soooo much more sense to me biologically. I felt that no matter what I was definitely improving their diet from kibble. I’m so thankful that I didn’t wait because I was intimidated or overwhelmed. I’ve learned so much along the way and that has helped everything make sense as well. If you think about your own diet do you follow the guidelines we should be eating? Probably not and if you do, it’s probably not perfect. So don’t let the pressures set you back too far!! Do it!!!

That feeling when the doctor confirms your recovery was a huge success!! After Buddha’s ultrasound re-check this morning Dr Scott says that his Kidney and Ureter have taken back their natural shapes and that overall she’s very happy with how everything looks and how well he’s recovered! I’m soooo relieved. This was the final confirmation I was waiting for and I feel like I can fully breath again Thanks to all our friends for the support along the way.
