***Adoption Needed*** Meet KOTA, a dog with a hard start in life who has thrived under #elderdog care and is now ready for a #forverfamily. Described by those ...who have recently spent time with him as an awesome dog, Kota is a healthy 5-year old, 50 lb lab mastiff mix. He was recently neutered, is up-to-date on his vaccinations and is in good health. Kota is well-mannered, calms down quickly when welcoming visitors, and generally enjoys being a wonderful companion. He’s very affectionate and loves cuddling on the couch to watch TV. He also enjoys ear scratches and belly rubs. In short, he absolutely loves attention. Kota has come a long way since he arrived in our care a few months ago. He came from a very stressful situation where he, sadly, spent most of his time chained to a post with no grass. His fosters have worked hard to introduce him to the outside world. Kota is now fully housetrained. He’s very intelligent and has learned his basic commands such as sit, lie down, come, wait and shake a paw. He loves fast walks or to run alongside his human (on leash). He doesn’t know his own strength and will sometimes pull. His fosters are teaching him leash manners and he is improving everyday. He gets the zoomies in the early evening which is his favourite time to play with his toys, especially his puzzle ball. A fenced in yard would be ideal for him to run around to his heart’s content. He’s eager to please and takes great pleasure in receiving praise when he does good. He loves meeting new people and was a perfect gentleman at the vet’s office. He gets nervous in the car when he thinks he’ll be left alone but after a few minutes, he’ll look out the window or enjoy a good car nap. Kota loves his people and needs someone who would be home most of the time as he does not like to be left alone. He becomes very anxious and takes a tablet of Clomicalm every other day. This may have to be increased initially when he goes to his new home. Whoever the lucky person is to adopt Kota will have to be patient until he figures out the new rules and routines. His fosters have been working with a trainer and he has had small successes but he will need time and continued behavioural training to overcome his anxiety. He will become attached quickly and be devoted to his new person once he settles in. Kota is currently being fostered in Waterloo, ON. By all accounts, he is a gem of a dog who has been through a hard start, and now is ready for a life with a special someone who will help him continue to thrive like he and all dogs deserve. If you are interested in adopting this amazing fellow, please contact Joyce Clark at [email protected] or text or call 519-865-4157. Please help us find Kota a home by sharing this post. Please remember, especially for dogs like Kota, while there may be many wonderful people interested, it will be important to find the best fit for him. We thank everyone for their interest.

Hello everyone, Just want to remind you all that if your dog digs a hole, 'you must refill it'. This has been happening quite a bit lately, and it is very dangerous to all dogs(and people). Think about your dog playing tag with another dog and their foot hitting one of those holes...many things could happen, they break a leg, blow a knee, etc. Also, once agin we are having issues with large dogs in the small dog section....geez, c'mon folks, please stop doing this. If you can...'t respect the rules of the parks, just don't go. You are spoiling it for everyone else, including the dogs. Thank you. LDPS.

A man and his dog were walking along a road. The man was enjoying the scenery, when it suddenly occurred to him that he was dead. He remembered dying, and that ...the dog walking beside him had been dead for years. He wondered where the road was leading them.. After a while, they came to a high, white stone wall along one side of the road. It looked like fine marble. At the top of a long hill, it was broken by a tall arch that glowed in the sunlight. When he was standing before it he saw a magnificent gate in the arch that looked like mother-of-pearl, and the street that led to the gate looked like pure gold. He and the dog walked toward the gate, and as he got closer, he saw a man at a desk to one side. When he was close enough, he called out, 'Excuse me, where are we?' 'This is Heaven, sir,' the man answered. Would you happen to have some water?' the man asked. Of course, sir. Come right in, and I'll have some ice water brought right up'.The man gestured, and the gate began to open. 'Can my friend,' gesturing toward his dog, 'come in, too?' the traveller asked. 'I'm sorry, sir, but we don't accept pets.' The man thought a moment and then turned back toward the road and continued the way he had been going with his dog. After another long walk, and at the top of another long hill, he came to a dirt road leading through a farm gate that looked as if it had never been closed. There was no fence. As he approached the gate, he saw a man inside, leaning against a tree and reading a book. 'Excuse me!' he called to the man. 'Do you have any water?' 'Yeah, sure, there's a pump over there, come on in..' 'How about my friend here?' the traveller gestured to the dog. There should be a bowl by the pump.' They went through the gate, and sure enough, there was an old-fashioned hand pump with a bowl beside it. The traveller filled the water bowl and took a long drink himself, then he gave some to the dog. When they were full, he and the dog walked back toward the man who was standing by the tree. 'What do you call this place?' the traveller asked. This is Heaven,' he answered. 'Well, that's confusing,' the traveller said. 'The man down the road said that was Heaven, too.' 'Oh, you mean the place with the gold street and pearly gates? Nope. That's hell.' 'Doesn't it make you mad for them to use your name like that?' 'No, we're just happy that they screen out the folks who would leave their best friends behind.' ~Anonymous Author and Artwork

Sweet Sassy is is available for adoption ! She is about 9 years old, LOVES to go for car rides, to play, snuggle and go for walks. Sassy doesnt like other dogs... so a home with her being the only large animal is a must. She likes children but is still very much a puppy in her mind so a home with older children would be best. If you are interested in Sassy and would like to meet her kindly request an application via email from [email protected] or call us at (902) 543-4849 any time between 11am and 3pm.

Hello everyone. Just wanted to give you a heads up that tomorrow(Aug. 28), the guys will be in the woodland section(large dog) to weed whack. So, that Park will be closed for the time they are there. They were not sure when they would get there so can't let you know, but if you go and they are there, please do not enter. ... Hopefully next year they will be mowing instead of weed walking that Park. Then we'll see who's got the best park, the little dogs or the big dogs!! Thanks, LDPS

Pleeeese stop using fireworks. If you must, at least use the silent versions. It is very scary for many animals and humans.
