If your child has asthma, you may be familiar with the September Spike, which is an increase in asthma symptoms that often occurs when children go back to school. If you are choosing to send your child back to school, we recommend having your children start their asthma medication a couple weeks before school starts to help maintain control before the September Spike hits. Talk to your child’s healthcare provider about additional steps you may consider if your child has asthma, is going back to school and will be required a face mask. https://www.lung.ca/asthma
If your child is returning to school this September, one way you can help protect him/her from COVID-19 is with a mask. Refer to your local guidelines to know whether or not your child will be required to wear a face mask. Follow our tips on non-medical face masks when teaching your child how to put on and remove a mask. http://ow.ly/UrHl50BfYeW
