A Stay at Home order begins at midnight. While it is late - this should have been last weeks announcement if not before - it is the right thing to do. Ontario ...Liberals have called for a tripling of the supports for small businesses to help get them through this situation. Stay Home. Wear your mask. I will post the details once I receive them.

Listening to this audio book for my book club this week. What interesting ideas and information! Did you know that as adults age, their sleep patterns are disturbed, so a lot of forgetfulness can be attributed to sleep deprivation? And, the chapter on memories is fascinating. ... We all know that different people can have vastly different memories of the same event. The author shares why that is. And also differentiates the different types of implicit memories (eg. procedural - for playing the piano, or tying your shoes), and explicit memories (episodic and semantic). He talks about confabulation for the brain filling in pieces or gaps in memories (and why trial lawyers know how unreliable eye witnesses are because of this). Fascinating read/ listen - and - McGill Dr to boot. https://www.cbc.ca/books/successful-aging-1.5418089

We have lost an icon. Almost every night for more than three decades, Alex Trebek entertained and educated millions with his quick wit, wry jokes, and his seemi...ngly endless knowledge. He was a part of memorable moments both on Jeopardy! and in living rooms around the world, as friends and families huddled to watch the latest episode. My thoughts are with all his fans, as well as his own family and friends, as they mourn this tremendous loss. Please read my full statement on the passing of Alex Trebek: https://bit.ly/3laVg9j

I love getting client reviews. Such as this wonderful one.(Thanks, Cathy!) Outstanding Travel Advice and Support - Sheila Gallant-Halloran By: Cathy ... Reviewed on: 16 Jan 2020 Working with Sheila was a fantastic experience. She was extremely well-informed, organized, responsive, attentive and focused on my specific individual needs despite the fact that I was travelling with a large group. An unusual situation arose in Prague when I lost my phone on a coach that was taking us to the airport. Sheila, even though her official duties with our group were done and she was on a personal weekend, took a sincere interest in my situation, connected me to the coach company, identified a hotel employee who could speak to the bus driver in German, provided me with telephone numbers for the guide and bus driver etc. The phone was miraculously located and Sheila assisted in coordinating its return to me in Canada!! I can't say enough about her degree of care and professionalism, and would recommend her without reservation. Let me know if I can help you travel the world! What would your totem pole be? Totem poles have cultural significance and tell a story. British Columbia and Northwest art of indigenous peoples are known for totems What figures or symbols or carvings would represent your kinship as art in wood to show future generations your life, your stories, your ancestors, and your family in 2020? What would stand a representation of your year?... #totem #spiritguides #britishcolumbia #seecanada

Have you walked on the Capilano Suspension Bridge? I did, this time last year. Its amazing how much the travel world has changed over this year. But just like my crossing that bridge was memorable - if only for the moving through the fear of having my feet definitely not on terra firma, while I stared at the precipitous drop just beyond the shaking handrail - so goes 2020!... I made it through the walk, and have some memories of the racing heartbeat. And it was so neat to do something I hadnt done before. I wonder if surviving 2020 might feel like that in a few years? Im betting on it. So, for now, we figure out how to navigate that bridge from 2020 to the future - and we should be exploring our own country. I attended a wonderful @cangeotravel panel at @travelleisureshowcan, and was inspired by Zita Cobb of @fogoislandinn . Zita said, Because the thing about the travel industry, as we humans navigate this pandemic, we have to do it together. This can only be solved in a co-ordinated way. And our industry is the one that can, and should, lead because by definition, travel is about communities. And if there is anything any of us have learned in staying home for the last five months is that we have a new relationship with local. Were born to travel. Were wired this way. And I think travel in our own country is a.) safe, b.) responsible, and c.) can make a difference in strengthening our country. So - what are you doing to explore this great country? #britishcolumbia #adventuretravel #naturelovers #seecanada #exploremore

One year ago today, I took my small group of fierce ladies on a tour with @rockymountaineer through Canadas beautiful Rockies. We had a wonderful time, and got to enjoy our great country together. Of course, I threw in some surprises for my wonderful clients - like a private car and driver, and a special dinner. My ladies were really tickled pink by the limo ride! I cant wait until Im back travelling with my clients again, and leading life-affirming experiences that grow... in value over time. We will start to travel again. Now is the time to plan. We can plan today, travel tomorrow. And you can start by touring around this great country! Let me know if you would like to learn about some future small group trips Im planning. #rockymountains #seecanada #smallgroups #traveladvisor #domestictravel #alberta #britishcolumbia

What a terrific panel by Canadian Geographic Travels Andrew Lovesey at the Travel And Leisure Show Canada I'd attended this week. As usual, the indomitable Zita Cobb, inn-keeper at Fogo Island Inn in Newfoundland, knocked it out of the park.... Im hoping Andrew will post the video link because Zita dropped two minutes of solid gold at the beginning (besides sparkling gems throughout) when she was asked to give advice to the travel industry and planners, given the concern that exists about safety. Zita said, Any of us can only gain confidence by getting out there. Its by doing. And the longer we stay under the bed, the more fearful we become. "Most people now understand that this is an era, not an event. ... its tough putting your foot in what you thought was cold water but actually travellers and planners need to understand that the people running these businesses whether airlines or off the coast of Newfoundland... we are people too, and we have fears too. And the last thing any one of us want to do is to put someone at risk... We care about people, thats why were in this industry in first place. And secondly, we are not going to do something to injure our business. Because the thing about the travel industry, as we humans navigate this pandemic, we have to do it together. Wow! She went on to differentiate "sustainable travel" (which I love) as "don't make a mess".... whereas "re-generative travel" is "make better than they were by actions taken in running your business." Amazing. So, where would you like to travel in your own country?

When great trees fall, rocks on distant hills shudder, lions hunker down in tall grasses, and even elephants... lumber after safety. When great trees fall in forests, small things recoil into silence, their senses eroded beyond fear. When great souls die, the air around us becomes light, rare, sterile. We breathe, briefly. Our eyes, briefly, see with a hurtful clarity. Our memory, suddenly sharpened, examines, gnaws on kind words unsaid, promised walks never taken. Great souls die and our reality, bound to them, takes leave of us. Our souls, dependent upon their nurture, now shrink, wizened. Our minds, formed and informed by their radiance, fall away. We are not so much maddened as reduced to the unutterable ignorance of dark, cold caves. And when great souls die, after a period peace blooms, slowly and always irregularly. Spaces fill with a kind of soothing electric vibration. Our senses, restored, never to be the same, whisper to us. They existed. They existed. We can be. Be and be better. For they existed. Why is Iceland called the Land of Fire and Ice? https://www.quora.com/Why-is-Iceland-called-the-Land-of-Fir
Does the land of fire and ice interest you? Im going! I want to immerse myself in the land of fjords and volcanos. And having just walked Zac Efrons Down to Earth about Iceland, Im more pumped than ever.... Did you know that the country of Iceland can power itself 100% renewable sources? How cool is that. With this virus messing with our travel plans in 2020 in a huge way, we have to make up for it in 2021. And a bucket list trip with the best-of-the-best expedition company is the way to go. Wanna know why @lindbladexp ? Theyve been taking explorers to Antarctica, the Galápagos, and around the world for over 50 years, with top notch naturalists on-board, and a company that is committed to conservation and sustainability. And - Lindblad has the first self-disinfecting fleet in the cruise world. Lucky for all of us, this was just an indication of their being at the forefront and leading innovation, because they had this launched in 2020 before this pesky virus came along. So you know youll be safe on-board - and thats before all the top CoVid protocols were layered atop of their normal practices. And , if youre a little nervous about what the future of travel might be next July, know that Lindblad is committed to your peace of mind. They have a pretty epic version of social distancing. And you can cancel your expedition at least 14 days prior and get a 100% future travel credit. Wanna go on July 7, 2021 with me? 6 nights on a Wild Iceland Escape. Getting some interesting insights from John Ayo, a speaker at this year's virtual Virtuoso Week. He talks about replacing Pharmocology with FARMocology. The 3 biggest indicators of good health are controlling your 1. nutrition, 2. toxins, and ... 3. stress. And he emphasizes drinking pure water, getting fresh air, getting exercise, having a proper diet, getting sunlight, getting rest, and having good emotional/ spiritual health. Found an older youtube interview with him about travelling healthy- and living healthy. Give it a watch for his tip on minimizing jet lag - EARTHING! https://www.youtube.com/watch
