There's a new sheriff in town is my message for this Sunday, based on Mark 1:21-28. But this sheriff is a man with authority and also a man of no reputation. That is our paradoxical God. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10160648579938989&id=569608988

We are in the midst of planning our Christmas Eve Services at LCOS, and in pandemic preparation, we are doing things virtually. If your children (any age) would like to be involved in the videos, please send us a message ASAP so we can get all of the videos to our Tech Guru, Mike, in time to compile and edit. It'll be "FANTASTIC!", as Mike often says. :-D
Dear Members and Friends of LCOS You have all heard of the rise in Covid cases in Alberta and particularly in Calgary. Premier Kenney has addressed the province and suggested that we restrict our contact with people outside our family to reduce the spread of the virus. Alberta Health Services has warned that further spread could cause damage to our health system and health care workers. New restrictions announced this week are considered by some to be inadequate to reduce the... continued rapid spread and there is an expectation that more severe restrictions will be required. Against this backdrop, Pastor Greg and the Board received a letter from Bishop Larry on November 12th which recommended that every Alberta ELCIC congregation consider suspending in-person services to limit the spread and to protect our members. The Board of LCOS along with Pastor Greg and the staff met virtually on November 13th to discuss this recommendation. The Risk Management Committee assured the Board that LCOS has been and is currently above and beyond the past and current AHS recommendations for safe operation of the church services. Pastor Greg and the Board discussed the importance that in-person services provided and the potential risks that were inherent in having these in-person services continue. We finally determined that in an over-abundance of concern and care for all of our congregation, Pastor Greg and Judy, we suspend in-person services effective immediately and will continue to monitor the situation for when we are safe to re-open. In the meantime, we will continue to live stream the services from the sanctuary and will continue to broadcast over the FM 100.5 station at our 9:00 am and 11:00 am services. We will also continue to provide a YouTube recording of the services when completed on Sunday afternoon. Since we are live streaming we will be able to conduct virtual communion so please be prepared with your own elements (bread and wine/juice) for that part of the service. In addition, the Board will be investigating how we can provide DVDs to those that do not have computers/I Pads so that you can participate in the services. We will also continue our efforts to keep the congregation connected and will provide details as they evolve. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact Pastor Greg at [email protected] or 403-464-8254 or the Board Chair Garry Mihaichuk at [email protected] or 403-975-0081. Please keep Pastor Greg, Judy, the Board and the entire congregation in your prayers. Yours in Christ LCOS Board Lutheran Church of Our Saviour 8831 Fairmount Drive SE Calgary, AB T2H 0Z4 www.oursaviourchurch.ca
Why? Because it's 2020!
I heard this on my satellite radio going to church yesterday. I knew there was a back story why Kris wrote this heart felt song. Now you know the rest of the story. https://youtu.be/1tA7E7pbUws
