When ingested, the body converts the more stable NAC into the less stable glutathione, which consists of three amino acids: glycine, cysteine, and glutamic acid. Glutathione is naturally present in humans, animals, plants, and fungi, where it helps protect cells from oxidative damage. In addition, glutathione helps the body recycle vitamin E and C. Studies show that higher blood levels of glutathione are associated with a reduced risk for illness, especially in the elderly.... Eating the following sulfur-rich foods can help one optimize blood glutathione levels. When this is not enough, supplementing can be considered. Experimenting with making, baking and creating. Today I lovingly made #cinnamonrolls using sprouted spelt flour and vanilla protein powder. Mmmmmm and they turned out swell. Did you know? Another day, another breakfast. I’m on lox down my friends!! Tasty sliced lox on multigrain sourdough rye, if this bread was sprouted too, then I would be in heaven. In the middle, capers, raw red onion and avocado and the tiniest amount of cream cheese (which is a treat!). Topped with everything bagel spice. When creating a meal I want all my ingredients to fulfill a nutritional benefit to my health and well being. Did you know, onions, similar to garlic in its effect, altho...ugh more subtle, could be considered the poor man’s antibiotic. The gut is ‘outside’ our body for a very important immunological reason. You see, our environment is naturally filled with billions of bacteria. This is not to scare you, as bacteria play a very important role in sustaining life on earth. However, our body is not equipped to let any ol’ bug from the outside world into our bloodstream. Therefore, our gut contains a very sophisticated immune system to make sure that the bugs that we swallow and eat are not given free reign into our bloodstream.
