Want to know a really interesting thing that you may not know about Ashley, the owner of LUXE? Repost @ashmarieprestage I had a client who was 15 years old, who kept coming in to get her hair done. Very Shy.. Didn’t open up at first but every visit I could sense that something was off. She looked forward to those appointments more than me... I began to be her friend, like An older sister to her you could say... I wanted to do something special so I Took her to Much Music for her 16th birthday..back stage because I had some connections. On that train ride, she opened up, and I’ll never forget the stories We became really close. Shortly after, she was being treated at the hospital for self harm and began therapy with a psychiatrist. On her hospital records (that I still have to this day...) she stated that her hairstylist was the only person she trusted, only one she wanted to be around. And that without me.. she had no one. Soon after, due to circumstances out of her control, she had to move 3 hours away. I got a call from a family member asking if I could come for a visit to meet with her and her psychiatrist. Without hesitation, I started the car.. I arranged a meeting with her parents, met with her school principal and guidance counsellor and with the blessing of everyone and what was best for her, I became her legal guardian.. I was the age of 23 She is a mother of 2 kids now. I helped show her what love is Gave her security And provided her a safe place to open up... Behind my chair...Her hairstylist In the eyes of the government we are non essential... To this day her and I are still connected. I don’t know who needs to hear this but YOU are loved. YOU are Special. & YOUR Hairstylists care for you more than you know.
