Im sure most of you have heard, after the announcement from the Alberta government today hairstylists have been included in step 1 in the re-opening process of our province (no brow services until further notice) . . Do you color your hair? Are you over due for a color service? Want to know how to fix your roots at home during social distancing? . . The answer is simple: Dont! .... . Dont box dye your hair while social distancing, or ever for that matter! Why? It may seem like a good idea (insert unrealistic expectation) but one bad decision later (insert reality) you have your results. Now for some it may look ok....lets say that again, it LOOKS ok. What you wont see is the potential damage done by the mystery volume developer that was in your box kit. We as stylists curate what volume (aka strength) of developer we need based on desired end result, amount of greys, and health of your hair to start with. This is so important to maintain the integrity of your hair. Some box dyes contain high volume developer, and that my friends is how you overprocess (aka overcook) your hair. Stay with me now! Then there is the harsh deposit of sulfates, and other metals to your hair strands. If you cant see it, whats the big deal? The big deal is that unseeable damage is there, itll be there when you go see your stylist. Sure we can correct the banding or unevenness, but it will come with the risk of breakage. When bleached, mineral deposits show up as little black spots on the hair (insert panic attack from your stylist) those little black spots are tiny little chemical reactions on your hair. Im sure youve figured it out already, that is bad. That is breakage. That is what we in the industry refer to as a chemical haircut. Again, bad. REALLY bad. . . So yah box dye is a cheap fix, you know what is not?! Color corrections done by a pro! So please do me, and any other stylist you know a solid and DONT! We love to see our clients with healthy, beautiful hair. So please show me that you are #rootingforyourstylist I look forward to seeing you and those glorious overgrown roots when we are on the other side of this!

We have gone from vibrant red, to brown, added a little blonde balayage, deepened the root to a dark brown then added some pink & neon coral, then fuschia, and finally for the last year variations of purple balayage paired with her deep root!... We made a plan in the fall to start our journey back to natural, once we achieve her natural base we will add in balayage blonde for a low maintenance, natural vibe
