Happy Monday everyone! With some kids going back to school in-person , some of the worries they may have had before may be surfacing up again. Here are some wonderful resources to help your kids during this time:... 1. This a great book to help explain the virus to kids: https://nosycrow.com//2020/04/Coronavirus_INSwith-cover.pdf 2. Another great book to help kids understand our situaiton: https://globalhealth.emory.edu//covid-19_helpers_bacon_lee 3. This is a read aloud book called 'I am Peace' which helps kids with recognizing the racing thoughts in their minds and what they can do to be in the here and now: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hXA3837uv3w 4. 'Sitting still like a frog' is one of my favourite self-guided mindfulness exercises for kids. You can find them for free here: https://www.shambhala.com/sittingstilllikeafrog/ 5. Another book about COVID that is inspired by Dr. Seuss: https://globalhealth.emory.edu//eb/what-color-is-today.pdf Feel free to reach out if you need more resources or supports during this time.
I get to practice repair A LOT. Repair quickly, repair often, and repair with self-compassion. #untigering... HT Seed & Sew

"Welcome to Holland" is a wonderful poem that provides a great explanation of how parents of children with disabilities feel. When expecting a child, all parents are hoping for a healthy baby - that is all they want. Losing that dream of having a healthy baby is something that parents grieve. The child that they get is not something that they expected - its not a good or a bad thing - its just different. They love this child and accept them for who they are and still grieve o...ver their lost dream of a healthy baby. When we think of a disability, we often think of something we can see - a physical disability, Down's Syndrome, a non-verbal child. However, a disability can also be invisible - such as ADHD or High Functioning Autism. I have a strong passion for helping and working with parents and children with ADHD. Understanding the disorder and providing the appropriate treatment makes a world of difference in the lives of the families that I work with. Be compassionate to everyone you meet as you don't what battles they are fighting. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KvCJZw8Ymxk
We live in a result oriented world where we want to see fast results. With therapy, change happens over time and you may not notice a huge transformation happening right away. It’s like a seed that you plant- little by little you grow and change and one day you look back at yourself and see just how much you have grown and changed. #mentalhealth #therapyworks
Resilience is one of my favourite topics. What do you do to build your child’s resiliency? #resiliene #childrensmentalhealth
