Today (as you may have already heard) the Fraser Health Authority announced it is lifting the order closing fitness facilities. Gyms will then be permitted to open as long as they meet certain requirements. We're excited to get back in the gym with you! However, time is needed to implement these guidelines and ensure we meet all the new safety requirements while preserving the experience you've come to expect at LVFIT. With that being said, we are happy to announce we have se...t the date of Monday June 1 to reopen. There are many details that we need to share with you very soon, however today’s message is just to announce the date we are reopening. ANNOUNCING TEMPORARY CLOSURE FOR COMMUNITY SAFETY >>> As of Monday March 23rd, all group training sessions will be suspended temporarily at LVFIT. >>>We will be running multiple bodyweight workouts at McLeod Athletic Park (MAP) on the following schedule (rain or shine).... Monday-Friday 9:30am 6pm Saturday 9am (Please park by the lacrosse box parking lot behind the high school) >>> In these sessions, we will be practicing social distancing and spreading you guys out far away with no one touching anything or anyone (please bring your own mats and water). These sessions start this Monday March 23rd >>> The gym will only be available for 1 on 1 training and checking out equipment by appointment only. >>> We are working around the clock to transition every active member to 1 on 1 personal training online on our mobile app called True Coach. If you don't have the app and want the app please let us know below. We'll send you an invitation link and then you'll create an account and download the mobile app True Coach and log-in from there. >>> Once in the app, we'll deliver you a personal training experience with customized workouts and videos based on your equipment, ability, and limitations. Having said this, it has been recently brought to our attention that many individuals are going vegan after watching the netflix "documentary" Game Changers. Upon watching this movie, it was glaringly obvious something needed to be done and that we needed to write a post opposing this cherry picked point of... view. But someone beat us to it, and even better, he has a PHD in nutritional science... So with 63 scientific references including his own PHD thesis here is Dr. Layne Norton's scientific analysis of the movie Gamechangers and why you should think twice before considering going vegan: https://www.biolayne.com//the-game-changers-review-a-scie/ ****Note: If you are considering vegan for ethical reasons that is an admirable reason**** >>> If you are doing this to decrease inflammation, NOTHING HELPS MORE than eliminating sugar, alcohol, and vegetable oils like canola oil, soybean oil, corn oil, sunflower oil, peanut oil, sesame oil, and rice bran oil. THESE OILS ARE SO BAD FOR YOU AS THEY ARE LOADED WITH INFLAMMATORY OMEGA 6's. >>> If you are regularly eating at restaurants, even food that appears healthy may have been cooked in these oils. >>> Supplementing with 2g per day of a good Omega 3 will help to combat this and bring down inflammation, but it starts with avoiding sugar and vegetable oils! Never negotiate with that inner voice. There are moments in every workout where you’ll feel like quitting and you’ll start hearing that voice inside your head. The trick is to not give in to this or set a minimum amount of work you’ll commit to at the beginning of the exercise. ... Achieve it (aka do what you said you would do) and then go on from there. The moment you give in, you lose credibility with yourself and you lose confidence. Keep having these small wins in your workouts and you will build massive confidence! Small wins lead to medium wins which lead to big wins! So next time you feel like quitting... Ask yourself Am I a quitter? Food can be medicine or it can be poison. Do you eat food just because your hungry? Because it's convenient?... Next time you go to eat, think to yourself if there is a purpose behind the food you are eating. That's why at LVFiT we lay out eating with a purpose. > You eat a protein at each meal to ensure you take in enough protein during the day to not only build lean muscle, but keep the immune system healthy, and detoxify the liver > You eat vegetables full of vitamins, minerals, and fibre to ensure your body operates effectively on a cellular level > You eat healthy fats to maintain the health of your cell membranes and keep your insulin low while getting high quality foods to fuel your day > You earn your carbs by eating them in post workout window where the insulin response will be used to build muscle rather than store fat > You eat carbs once a week to keep your hormones from down-regulating your metabolism When you eat with a purpose you view food as fuel more than anything else. #foodforfuel Be aware of your choices. #levelup Eat with a purpose.

Here is a picture of the 2 oils we use to cook with. Extra Virgin Olive Oil is great for cooking at low temperatures and using as a "sauce" on salads, tuna, etc Coconut Oil is great for cooking food at high heat when making stir frys, cooking proteins, etc... Did you know that most restaurants do not use these oils? They use oils loaded with inflammatory Omega 6 fats. In fact, the North American Diet is so out of balance that our ratio of Inflammatory Omega 6's to Anti-inflammatory Omega 3's is 20:1 when it should be closer to 1:1 This is why we suggest supplementing with 4-6g of fish oils each day to help balance out this ratio and get more omega 3's. This is why eating out is killing us as we are being hit on multiple levels. #1 - the food is carb dense and has lots of hidden calories in the form of tasty sugars and oils #2 - the oils used to cook the food are creating too much inflammation in your body. Here's a list of oils to avoid: > Soybean oil > Canola oil > Corn oil > Cottonseed oil > Sunflower oil > Peanut oil > Sesame oil > Rice bran oil And if you are looking for more tips and tricks to take your fat loss and fitness goals to the next level, we will be going over Nutrition and Mindset this Saturday at 11am as part of our 12 Week TKO Challenge.
