SAVE THE DATE: The LV Skating Trail is TENTATIVELY scheduled to open on January 24th! (Please read this full post as there is important information enclosed). A big thank you to all of our volunteers for their hard work in getting the trail ready for our use. The weather conditions haven't been optimal for us to open earlier as the tree coverage over the trail limits the amount of precipitation it has received, and the fluctuating temperatures weren't ideal. But, if everythin...g works out well, the trail condition will be ready to welcome skaters next week! *Please note that the trail is subject to close depending on the changing weather conditions. There are operating changes regarding trail use this season. Please read the information carefully and stay tuned for additional posts highlighting these changes: - The trail will be open 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM, seven (7) days a week - Monday - Friday: Max capacity at one given time is 25 people - Monday - Friday: Visitors will be required to pre-register their 1-hour allotted skating time. Please stay tuned for more information on how to register - Saturday + Sunday: Max capacity at one given time is 100 people - Saturday + Sunday: The trail will be staffed with volunteers monitoring the number of visitors at a time. We ask that people respect the 1 hour skating time to allow for everyone to enjoy the trail. - Saturday + Sunday: There will be no registration - capacity will be monitored on a first come basis - Please assess yourself for any COVID like symptoms prior to visiting the trail. Should you have any symptoms, do not enter the trail - Masks are not mandatory but are highly recommended, especially around the entrance and exit points - There is an outbound and inbound trail - please follow these new areas accordingly - You are required to take your belongings with you as items cannot be left at the trailhead. We recommend bringing a backpack for your belongings. - No skating aids will be available this year - Max capacity for snowshoeing is 25 weekdays and 100 on the weekends We will provide additional information regarding the use of the trail this week. Please ensure you have liked and our following our page to get the most up-to-date information. We thank you in advance for your cooperation and look forward to a magical skating experience in the woods once again! Thank you for all your support.

WINTER SAFETY: Stay alert, slow down, and stay in control - the three key elements of safe winter driving. Drive according to highway and weather conditions. Maintain a safe following distance between you and the vehicle in front of you to avoid situations where you may have to brake suddenly. Before heading out, call 511 for a weather report or go to www.ontario.ca/511.

Did you know that our recreation facilities are all volunteer led and organized? Our community is made up of over 60 volunteers that oversee that we all have access to amazing recreation programming, events, and facility use. We cannot thank them enough for volunteering their time year over year and thank them for persevering through 2020. Typically we bring our volunteers together for an evening of recognition but this year looked a little different. We put together LV Food...ie Boxes that included yummy items from over 12 local LV businesses. Volunteers drove through our garage to receive their box from Council and the Mayor. We hope this LV Inspo Box gives you some ideas as to how you too can continue to support local. Let’s take a moment to thank our volunteers for all that they do. THANK YOU to the following Rec Groups: - Alice & Fraser Recreation Centre - Forest Lea Park - LV Skating Trail - Pleasant View Park - Micksburg Athletics Association - Shady Nook Recreational Centre - Stafford Recreation Centre
