My heart is full. Saturday Sophia and Benji got married. I have never attended a more spirit filled wedding. There was certainly not a dry eye when these two said their vows to each other. I have never in my life been so choked up.... Sophia and Ben - thank you from the bottom of my heart to flying me to Alberta to capture something so intimate. So perfect. So God ordained. Thank you for trusting me to capture your truth love.

Lately this has been on my heart and I have felt the need to share it out of love. I have had some recent chats with photographers lately. We have all felt the same. We notice new and upcoming photographers (even seasoned photographers)... all doing the same thing. What are they doing?! ... They all find the gorgeous, prettiest, perfect skin, perfect hair women (by worldly standards) to model for them for photos for free. Why is this wrong? Why can’t they have free models?! Surely, they don’t mean to just pick the undeniably beautiful women? I’ll be honest, I struggled myself with this but I had to take a step back and realize that no one is perfect. It’s wrong on all levels. I will NEVER be asked to model. (Yes I’m quite okay with that). I’m not the prettiest girl out there. That’s okay. My issue is that we preach community over competition. We preach about mental health awareness. We preach about don’t compare yourself to her, yet social media does not help. We preach about trying to be inclusive about all types of women, all types of skin, all types of hair, and shapes and sizes. Yet when it comes down to it, many photographer’s don’t post the women with acne or less than perfect hair. Why is it wrong to have free models? It’s not. It’s wrong to always as perfect men and women to model for you. I have free couples on my feed as well. Chances are it is because my friends and I were out together and it ended up into a quick mini session OR it was gifted from me to them because I wanted to bless them and this is a way I bless people. I have had pictures taken by multiple photographers. One was a model call and then the others were paid shoots. I can count on ONE hand how many times I was on their feed. Don’t tell because their wardrobe choice is hideous... it’s called education to help families choose outfits. Maybe the couple was being themselves? Maybe they thought this is what their photographer wanted?! I may not be the person with the most perfect skin or hair, but I am a bubbly person who has feelings and knows how to love. Let’s stop the FREAKEN model calls for the perfect person and start getting NORMAL people on feeds.
