A very important research project. They are looking for women who have had at least one pregnancy. You do not need to have/had Lyme. They need a comparison group as well. If not you, please share.

The following was in another group. It is important to note that, although I don’t have it in print, the NS College of Physicians and Surgeons advised me that they only investigate doctors who treat Lyme if a complaint is received. This info, along with the following statement found on the first page of the IDSA Lyme Guidelines: It is important to realize that guidelines cannot always account for individual variation among patients. They are not intended to supplant physici...an judgment (sic) with respect to particular patients or special clinical situations. The Infectious Diseases Society of America considers adherence to these guidelines to be voluntary, with the ultimate determination regarding their application to be made by the physician in the light of each patient’s individual circumstances. should provide some reassurance to doctors wishing to help their patients. We have heard from several people in Ontario this fall telling us that this letter from Dr. Nancy Whitmore, Registrar of the CPSO has helped them get diagnosed and treated. I know this pertains only to Ontario, but other provinces might be interested in contacting their respective licensing colleges. Dr. McShane's retirement has created a very large hole in Ontario patients' ability to get treatment. This letter seems to be helping some of her former patients. The ILADS treatment guidelines can be found at www.ilads.org. John

I hope you are all doing well. Hard to believe that it is already November! The next regularly scheduled NS Lyme Support Group meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, November 10th at noon. Please let me know, via [email protected] if you would like a Zoom invite. Since it is a Zoom meeting, it’s opened to anyone that is interested. The last few meetings have had a very low turnout. I’m not sure if it’s because of the day/time, the mode (Zoom), or something else. If it’s... something that I can control, please let me know as I hate to think anyone that might be interested in a meeting is missing out for an easy to change reason. As well, as an FYI, I received an email today from a gentleman in New Brunswick who is a freelance journalist working on a new, science-based book about Lyme disease in Canada for Formac Press, which is in Nova Scotia. As Formac wants some Nova Scotia focus, he is looking for some history, present conditions, etc., but he is also interested in including some stories from patients about their experience with the disease. I’m assuming the stories could be Canada wide. We are to chat sometime over the next week or so. Would anyone be interested in speaking to him re your own personal story? Take care! Donna
