What does your Business Portrait say about you? We use our portraits on all of our business communication. This is often one's first impression of your business message. If you are one of several images that pops up in a search, will your portrait be clicked on? Here are some tips to ensure people like and want to learn more about you.... 1. Make sure your portrait is current. If you changed your hairstyle, started wearing glasses or if it is more than 7 years old it's time for an updated picture. ** When I arrived to do a presentation for a group of business women, the contact thanked me for looking like my picture. When you don't look like your picture, it creates distrust and uncertainty. 2. Your face and eyes are the point of communication and your eye-line should cut across one-third down from the top of the frame. 3. Head position should be closer to the top of the frame. 4. Use a non-distracting, simple background with contrast to you and your clothing. 5. Just show from your elbows up. We don't need to see anymore because the focus is on you - your eyes and facial expression. The photo on the left is not strong because the hands are disrupting the image and he is no looking straight on. The photo on the right is strong because he is confidently engaging.
