A sweet look from a female snowy owl perched on an old abandoned building to start your day
A porcupine in a bush eating a delicious and nutritious meal of bark. They can climb quite well but they aren't fast and often will freeze looking like a nest in disguise. I walked upon this one and got a little closer than it preferred so it turned backwards, spiked up it's quills and swayed slowly back and fourth. It was really interesting but I never want to bother wildlife so I left the area right away. Hopefully it got back to that delicious meal! Look at the little arms and cute face though! They are also soft when they aren't defensive, I've learned. :)
This scene has to be one of my favourite short eared owl scenes! I found this one in a December snowstorm which is always neat. Let me know which is your favourite of the three, I love how in all shots the owl isn't really paying attention to me.
Sweet young moose with the sky on fire behind
Mom and daughter love! Swipe through for the cutest set of a muley doe loving on her yearling moments like these are so sweet.
I don't know all of the details nor am I looking to bash hunting or hunters but as far as I've heard, this white buck was shot and killed this season. I do feel like someone should say something about the way it was protected and cared about by many local people (many known hunters included) who knew of him. The landowners in the area tried so hard to protect it that they shut down hunting on their lands for years and wouldn't even prefer that I go on their land to take photos of him. Which I have respected that request since. I didn't think that any of our local hunters out there would shoot a beautiful & rare white deer but I was truly naive in that thought (maybe knew it but didn't want to believe it). Cool thing is that he lived to be about 4-5 years old against many odds. RIP beautiful spirit buck!
My 2021 wildlife calendars are in!! Message me if you'd like one and haven't already let me know, otherwise I'll get a hold of you.
Already been spending time with the returning snowy owls! This male snowy owl was hopping around a cow corral and eventually he flew away because he was worried about a Raven yelling profanities from the sky I watched him preen himself and fluff up in the sun while I took pictures from my vehicle so I knew he was comfortable which should always be the goal in spending time with wildlife! So fun to watch their behaviors!
One of the lightest variations of colours on a Great Horned owl I have found yet! Such a beautiful bird, I am very thankful for this encounter.
