It’s not about the color you wear you hair. Some of us change our hair color often. Some of us wear our hair blonde but have very dark natural brow hair. Some of use wear our hair very dark and have light natural brows. It’s about your skin tone about blending in to your natural brows to achieve realism. Shading or strokes; either can be very natural looking. Now, sometimes we can adjust a little darker or lighter than your natural brow. If have no brow hair at all, the choices are wide open.

Confidence. That’s the first step. Hell, I wish I felt as confident in my younger years as I do in my 40’s. Never apologize for being you. For taking time for you. For doing what you need. For doing what you love. For looking after you. For doing what makes you feel good. FOR. YOU. #happyinternationalwomensday

Does it hurt? I wish I could guarantee everyone that they would not feel a thing. Unfortunately, I can not. I never sugar coat anything. I CAN guarantee that I will do everything in my power to make the procedure as comfortable as possible for you. Keep in mind that cosmetic tattooing is not a usual beauty treatment in a spa environment. It’s a tattoo. We are implanting pigment in your skin. The skin must be broken to do so.... I use the very best topical anesthetics the industry offers, within the limits I must adhere to. During the procedure, I continually numb you as I work. I know first hand that everyone has a different pain tolerance. Funny to me is a client with many tattoos on their body (including their ribs & on top of their foot) that has also experienced child labour; and they worry about pain. Girl, you’re a trooper! I can tell you that the water color tattoo on my shoulder was far more painful than any of the cosmetic tattooing I have. If I were to assign a pain level to the cosmetic tattooing I offer, based on my experience: Powder brows/ Microshading: pain level 0-1. I have rarely ever had anyone be uncomfortable from this technique. Maybe for a minute or so for each brow. Hairstroke microblading: pain level 1-3. Usually minimal discomfort. Most ladies do feel some sensation at some point during the procedure. Very rare to be uncomfortable during entire procedure. Lips: pain level 1-4. Can be uncomfortable, the lips are very thin and I must work slow & gently. I outline the lips and then color them in. You will likely feel some sensation when I outline the Cupid’s bow. There are a lot of nerve endings in this area. (If you’ve ever had your upper lip waxed, or squeezed a pimple in this area you know what I am referring too.) Most often, you’re comfortable for most of the procedure but do experience some discomfort during the procedure. Eyeliner : 1-4. In my opinion, the most uncomfortable of cosmetic tattooing. The eyes are very sensitive. Tattooing a smaller lash line eyeliner is usually minimal discomfort. Larger eyeliner tattoo such as wings will most likely be uncomfortable. If pain is what deters you, I suggest you schedule your appointment when you will be well rested and have had a good meal. A late Friday afternoon appointment after having had a gruelling & stressful week when you haven’t even had the time to eat is not ideal. Also, try & avoid having the procedure done during your menstrual cycle if possible. I know for me, everything hurts more when I’m on my period. My back; and even my hair hurts if I’ve had it up all day. I can be easily irritated. You absolutely should plan for some discomfort. Please do not take Advil or Aspirin before your appointment. These are known to thin the blood. Excessive bleeding can prevent me from being apply to implant pigment. Truthfully, I wouldn’t have a clue if you took Acetaminophen/ Tylenol .

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month Did you know I offer free Areola / Nipple tattooing for breast cancer survivors? This includes a refresh or modification of an existing tattoo. Experts suggest ladies (and gents) should get in the habit of doing a breast self-examination once a month to familiarize yourself with how your breasts normally look and feel. Examine yourself several days after your period ends, when your breasts are least likely to be swollen and tender. Here’s a link to breast self-exam. https://www.breastcancer.org/sympto/testing/types/self_exam

How do we come up with your brow shape? The most important things to me are your brow bone structure and how your natural brow hair grows. Working with these give you the most natural and flattering outcome. Now, of course your personal style is also a factor. I have many tricks to manipulate your brows into our desired outcome. We’re all different. No two ladies are alike. It’s all about working with YOUR face to create balance & highlighting your most beautiful feat...ures. My October calendar is full. My client was very nervous about getting her brows done. So common you guys! She has little natural brow hair that is very fine and she doesn’t typically wear brow makeup. I love to work conservatively . We can always add on; go darker or bigger at your touch up if you like. We don’t have to take a huge leap. I done super soft shading and some light strokes in front. She was very pleased ! #combobrows #shading #browshading #softpowderbrows #microblading #browmakeover #browtransformation #browlift #realisticbrows #brows #fortmcmurray #fortmcmurraybrows #fortmcmurraycosmetictattoo

Is it a tattoo? Yes, it is. Any method of implanting pigment/ ink in your skin is considered a tattoo or micropigmentation. (cosmetic tattooing, permanent makeup, permanent cosmetics, makeup tattoo)

My favourite challenge & transformation from last week! A client that has a naturally full brow with fine brow hair is typically the easiest to work with. However, I don’t get to pick my canvas. ... This client is the opposite. She has coarse, unruly & dense brow hair ; and of course, uneven brows. One needs building on the bottom, and one the top. And both need to look almost the same when complete. A challenge indeed. I cannot change how my client’s natural brow hair grows; or the texture of it. I CAN use my expertise to improve the shape, blend into her existing brow, mimicking her own brows and making the outcome look as realistic as possible when complete. Just like this!

How long does the pigment last in brows? I get asked this question a lot. This is a tough question and the truth is the answer varies substantially. Powder brows/ shading lasts longer than hairstroke microblading. There is more saturation of pigment with powder brows. However, a softer powder brow will fade quicker than a bolder powder brow. The lighter the pigment, the faster it will fade. Darker pigment lasts longer. (Light blonde pigment vs. Dark brown p...igment) Lighter pigments have a lower lightfastness value, darker a higher. Lifestyle is a factor. Sun exposure, frequent cardio & sweating, active lifestyle, hot yoga, etc. These things make pigment fade faster. The oilier your skin, the faster the pigment will fade. Mature skin holds pigment longer than more youthful skin. My goal is always to get you to at least a year before you need a color boost. Typically you’ll want to touch up your brows every year or two. However, a powder brow on mature skin can last several years. I can make a better guess at how often you’ll need a color boost once I see your skin and you choose your brow style.
