I am delighted to invite Calgarians to come check out @kid_be_ski , @bobbyyinyuan and myself's group exhibition Phantasmagorical Figures on the 4th floor of CSpace in Calgary. Cspace is an awesome arts incubator space that houses a variety of vital arts awesomeness in the city. This awesomeness includes, but is not limited to @calgaryalliedartsfoundation whom I must thank for the opportunity to exhibit work in addition to providing time, space and funds to make work! Much appreciated! #ceramics #glass #calgaryarts #cspacekingedward @cspacekingedward #figuretiveart

This past weekend I had the honor of receiving the First Place NCECA Graduate Award of Excellence! I am still in mild profound space just thinking about it. Smoldering Grecian was one of those strange pieces that emerged from a relentless slab building fury that consumed me for 5 months. Initially, he was build with a sculptural reclaim clay, white slip and underglaze accents, though the kiln had other plans for me... I proceeded to do a DIY flocking an numerous washes of whi...te, and discovered a compelling texture fit for the regal Grecian. No plinth could contain the Grecian (until recently) , so I had to build him legs to stand his own ground. The dancing figures of Micheal Flynn inspired me to strike a pose from back in my brief ballerino days. Thank you to mentors @zimrabeiner @lantinceramics @natalimmrodrigues and @peter.barbor as well as so many friends and colleagues that helped me navigate the trails and tribulations of my MFA. #nceca #ceramics #clay #canadianceramics @auarts.ceramics @albertauarts #calgaryarts See more

More exciting news, my first post-mfa solo show is now open for viewing by appointment at cspace, and as of April 1, I believe you can visit it during regular hours at you leisure. The show is called Navel Glazing and its on the second floor in the cubby gallery. This detail is from a revised prior work, now called Conehead and the Floor. It's inspired by Do Ho Suh's piece Floor (1997-2000) that asks questions about the individual and the collective. By having mini Coneheads holding up the monument Conehead, I aim to ask questions about our relationship to our idols and monuments. Thanks @calgaryalliedartsfoundation and @brianbunnybatista for the opportunity to show some work! The mini cone heads are 3d printed #3dprinting #art #ceramics #canadianceramics #calgaryarts

2 years ago a was halfway through my MFA and I went to my first NCECA (" weird family reunion for ceramic people" -friend). It was a great experience with the bestest of friends, and it exposed me to larger ceramics scene, something I aspire to contribute to. This time around I have managed to get some work in to the NCECA international student show, and I couldn't be more honored and excited. Smoldering Grecian, is one of my favorite pieces made for my thesis exhibition and he is a place holder for me in Ohio Cincinnati, at the conference that I could not attend psychically this year! This was a crazy shipping experience... #NCECA @daap_galleries #ceramics #canadianceramics
