2020 is the 10th anniversary of the creation of the Manitoba Rugby Hall of Fame. Brent Tomchuk is the sole graduate of MacGregor Collegiate to have been inducted into the Hall of Fame. Brent’s athletic prowess became evident very early. He was a dominant athlete at MacGregor Collegiate graduating in 1974. He led the football team to consecutive central plains championships.... Brent moved on to be a dominant university athlete playing football for the University of Manitoba as well as being a standout on the wrestling team. Brent started in rugby in the mid 1970’s with the Assassins Rugby Club. To no one’s surprise, Brent proved to be a dominant rugby player. Besides being a force for his club team, he quickly became a member of Team Manitoba and represented the province for many years. When club teams could add players for interprovincial competition, Brent was asked numerous times. Brent was someone who wanted to give back to the sport. He spent several seasons as a coach for the Assassins. He coached various representative teams as well. Because of Brent’s achievements in rugby in Manitoba, he was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2014 in the player category. http://www.manitobarugbyhalloffame.com/brent-tomchuk.html

The Department of Education has made the decision to suspend the Grade 12 provincial tests for Semester 1. A decision regarding Semester 2 Grade 12 provincial tests will be communicated in early February!
