Transformation stories are definitely our favorites Here is a testimonial we received: "I wanted to share my own results using BMZ. This is my now 4 year old ...big warmblood who’s feet were in very rough shape after moving from Ontario to Alberta. First photos were taken on July 15 2018 and second photo was taken on March 5 2019. Major growth and strength. No cracking and even the club foot has grown out!" - Heather MacInnis You have a success story and want to spread the joy? Feeding The Lactating Mare The quality of protein is more important than the quantity: During lactation, the mare’s mineral needs continue to grow but it is ...her energy and protein needs that increase the most. An approximate 65% rise in protein needs over what they were in late gestation is observed. Be careful not to underfeed the mare: The lactating mare’s energy or calorie needs increase by approximately 45% over her needs in late gestation. The calorie intake from her ration therefore must be increased to avoid underfeeding her, a situation that occurs all too often. The mare's calorie needs during this phase vary depending notably on the quality and quantity of milk produced. Indeed, some mares are such good milk producers that it is difficult to maintain good body condition if the amount of feed served per day is not increased significantly. The feed chosen should be formulated for the needs of the lactating mare, which is the case with Evolution Maternity, Omolene Maternity 300, Equilibrium Maternity XT and Simplici-T Pro Grain. A feed with a high calorie value will make it easier to maintain good body condition despite lactation requirements. Horse owners may look at the body weight of pregnant mares on pasture and elect not to provide any additional supplement because they are fat and shiny. But rem...ember: No forage alone today will meet the major mineral and trace mineral needs of a pregnant mare, (or any other kind of horses!) although it may keep them in a body condition score of 5-6 or more. Ration Balancers: Can fill the gaps on easy keeping mares and meet all of the pregnant mare’s nutrient needs. Provide a good way to increase plane of nutrition while not increasing body condition significantly. Looking to know what are the suitable products for your broodmare?
