Are you a devoted cross country skier? Or maybe just trying something new? Consider getting involved in your local ski club! We are looking for volunteers to help out this fall to get the trails ready for skiing this winter. Past work bees have been a blast, out in the crisp fall air having some fun while doing some good! Hello Nordiques! Your club has been busy this summer! This month, thanks to some devoted volunteers, we are breaking ground on a NEW CLUB HOUSE!! As you can see from the photos the old ATCO trailer is being hauled away to make room for the new structure! This building will be a place to come and warm up and a place for our skills development programs to meet. We can’t wait! We also want to thank the forest fire fighters for all the trail clearing work they did this summer. We’re still going! The trails were groomed again last night. Enjoy responsibly and remember to keep your distance!

The trails were groomed last night with the piston bully, so the trails should be ready to ski again after the wind storm! Also we would like to extend a friendly reminder that snow shoes and fat bikes aren’t allowed on the ski trails at this point!

Here is the latest on the REC Sites and Trails COVID-19 response. Due to the low density of skiers on our trails most days we have decided to continue grooming the trails while conditions permit, but we are asking that skiers refrain from using the warming huts for the time being. Keep a safe distance from others, and enjoy the trails!

Don’t forget that tomorrow is the Mackenzie Nordiques Fun Ski!! In light of recent events we will be providing single serve snacks instead of hot dogs! Collect token from the different huts to win prizes from our amazing sponsors!
