Today marks the 20th anniversary of 9/11. This is not just a time to reflect on the 343 Firefighters that we lost or the total 2996 lives lost to date. But a time to reflect on who we collectively are becoming as nations. I don’t see Canada and US as separate with respect to the many family, friends and colleagues who reside on both sides of the border. Especially in a world mired in Global Crisis. I personally have been deeply affected by COVID 19. More important to me ...was my inability to ride with my friends, the men and women who ride their bicycles from Hamilton to Ottawa, Ontario to raise funds for the Canadian Fallen Firefighters Foundation, pay respect to Firefighters who lost their lives in the line of duty. But to also honour those who serve in any capacity as Emergency Responders. Such as those that we lost on 9/11/2001, there are people willing to give of themselves every day placing their own lives on the line for the safety and liberty of everyone.
