Perhaps the most obviously Scottish surname of them all, our Clan of the Week this week is Clan Scott! Coming from the Latin word Scotti, this surname was originally used to describe the Celts of Ireland but somehow migrated to the borderlands of Scotland! Historian George Fraser Black noted in his book, Surnames of Scotland, that the earliest record of this name was Uchtred 'Filius Scott', in a charter from around 1120. Check out our full collection of Scott Clan items at https://scottishshop.com/pages/search-results-page?q=scott

These incredible stonework pieces are created by Duncan MacDonald. Duncan is a native of Britain and has studios on the Isle of Islay, Scotland, and in Meaford, Ontario. These pieces are created with an all-natural medium of cement fondu and are suitable for indoor or outdoor exposure. A traditional stone polishing technique of hand waxing and bristle buffing finishes the work, raising the marbling that is created by the natural mineral colouring. Duncan is inspired by tradi...tional Pictish and Celtic images, clan badges, and historic Celtic and Medieval events! Each piece, like these examples, comes with a short explanation of its unique history and inspiration! @DuncansCelticStonework (Large selection available in store.) See more
