Racism on a personal level is taught, but racism on a systematic level is something that is inherited. Choosing to ignore what is going on today, or choosing not to speak on it, is an act that is rooted in privilege & you are siding with the oppressor in doing so. It is not the time to be quiet, it is the time to be vocally anti-racist, and ensuring your activism goes beyond a performative level. Do your research, educate yourself & educate others. Sign petitions, it takes SE...CONDS. Donate to charities and gofundme’s if you are able. Don’t simply post a photo of a black screen and think it is enough, it is nowhere close. Lean into the discomfort you feel and use it to educate and support. If you are not doing so, your silence is deafening. Don’t be afraid and don’t be ignorant. #BlackLivesMatter With it being pride month, it is important to recognize that black trans women are the body and soul of the pride movement, and violence against black trans woman receives the least amount of media outrage & public defence because they are black and trans. For my live concert this Thursday, June 4th, I will be donating $1 for every person who tuned in to the homeless black trans woman fund which helps financially navigate these women through vulnerable times. We were able to raise a total of $426 between my donations and those who matched them last week for the Minnesota Relief Fund, as well as the memorial services for George Floyd and Regis Korchinski-Paquet. If you are able too, tune in, even just for a second, and I will donate $1 on your behalf. I will also have the link pinned throughout so you can make your own donations if you are able too! I go live at 9pm EST on my Instagram, maddiecorinnemusic!

For every person who joins my Instagram Live show tonight, I will donate $1 on their behalf to the GoFundMe set up for George Floyd’s memorial service. I am also currently looking for a GoFundMe made for Regis Korchinski-Paquet, and if I am able to find one I will be donating there as well. 9pm EST on my Instagram page, @/maddiecorinnemusic. A few people have also said they will match my donations, so tune in!
