Hi there!! It’s a NEW year, I’ve got a NEW last name (Lach) and I’ve gained some NEW followers on here so I thought I’d better take a quick second to re-introduce myself before I start advertising what I have to offer this year! First and foremost, I am your friendly neighbourhood veggie farmer! I own and operate Mad Dog Produce and serve fresh chemical-free produce to the Plumas, Neepawa, Minnedosa and surrounding communities. This will be my second year in operation, bas...ed out of Plumas! I’m generally not too fond of talking about myself but here’s a few fun facts about me: I like to go fast on two wheels and this is an activity I enjoy in the summer when not in the field growing veggies. (Not all bikes pictured are mine but a girl can dream!) One of my nicknames in high school was carrot girl. I married the love of my life, Eric Lach, October 2, 2021. I started pursuing a Masters degree in Palaeontology - studying fossils but paused to focus on my business and something I was more passionate about. Over a year ago we welcomed to Pyrenees X puppies into our life - Bongo and Tildi. Our girl Bongo has genetic cataracts in both eyes and will be getting surgery this year to restore her sight. In the winter my passion is curling. Just over four years ago I was competing in PEI at the Olympic pre-trials. I love being surrounded by animals. I added pigs to the operation/funny farm in the fall and plan to add laying hens, ducks and guinea fowl this spring! I am currently working at a butcher shop - 262 Meats - during the winter to make some extra cash and learn the trade! This means I will be helping with the on-farm slaughter and processing of my own meat pigs. I can’t wait for this growing season and to provide you all with fresh tasty veggies again this summer!!! I hope you’ve enjoyed learning a little more about me! CLOSED for the season! The snow has nestled onto the garden and most of the produce is sold except what we have squirrelled away for ourselves and the pigs to live off of over the winter What a first season it has been and I want to take a hot minute to thank each and every person who supported me by buying local produce this season! I could not have done it without all of you believing in me all summer!! We have made an exciting addition to our farm fam! Jet now has a little brother - Bob! We heard that Bob - short for Bobcat (and formerly named Boo) needed a home and we figured he’d be the perfect fit here. We took him home yesterday and he’s settling in nicely! He does not stop moving and loves to play with cat toys, tablecloths and plants ... We love you so much already Bob! Cheers to the weekend from our newest additions to the farm fam, our piggies! A couple weeks ago we picked up 7 weanling TamworthxDuroc pigs. Their known for their bacon!! More on that later This was a great addition to our system as they love consuming garden scraps. Pigs are omnivores and so with these guys in the picture we can convert any waste off the garden into yummy meat! And this means their also eating healthy all winter long! ... #zerowastefarm #vegetablescraps #baconbaconbacon

Happy Monday! We had a good hard frost overnight making me very grateful that I took the time to rescue some extra chard and kale from the garden last week! The season for fresh greens is over but with that we transition into SOUP season! This week I’m working hard to freeze, process and dry as many veggies as I can for your soup needs. PLUS this equals less wasted veggies which makes me feel better!... Next pickups are November 3 (Minnedosa) and November 4 (Plumas). This sweet girl and I hung out in the garden all afternoon and soaked up the last beautiful day of warm weather! Eric and Tildi were out too and together we dug up most of the potatoes from the garden! There’s still a few things left to do but things are coming to an end. Looking back I can’t believe how quickly the season flew by and can’t express how grateful I am to my garden for producing what it did in one of the driest, windiest, hopperiest seasons yet.
