Richmond County District RCMP has arrested an impaired driver after a collision on Hwy. 4 in Barra Head. On November 30, at 7:31 p.m., police were dispatched to... a report of a traffic hazard on Hwy. 4 in Barra Head. Police learned that two vehicles had been travelling on Hwy. 4 when they ran over a piece of wood that was on the road. Police noted that a nearby guardrail had been heavily damaged and that the piece of wood had come from the guardrail. Both vehicles suffered significant damage but no one was injured. The truck had suffered damage consistent with a collision with a guardrail. Police spoke with the truck driver, a 41-year-old Miramichi man, and observed that he was displaying signs of impairment. The man provided a sample of breath in an Approved Screening Device which resulted in a Fail. He was arrested for Impaired Operation of a Conveyance and was transported to the St. Peter’s RCMP Detachment where he provided additional samples of breath, both over the legal limit. The man was released on charges of Impaired Operation of a Conveyance and Impaired Operation of a Conveyance over 80mg%. He will appear in Port Hawkesbury Provincial Court at a later date. In memory of Danille Brooke Kerpan, please don't drink and drive this Thanksgiving weekend. Plan a sober ride home 7 years ago on October 10, 2014 Danille was... killed by an impaired driver. Many lives were forever changed by a completely avoidable tragic event resulting from a thoughtless, selfish decision to drive impaired. Thanksgiving has never been the same for Danille's family and friends. You are missed every day Danille August 14, 1989 - October 10, 2014
