Here's something about today: it's #worldmigratorybirdday This event comes around twice a year, during spring and fall migration seasons when migratory bird deaths are at their peak. Now, granted, some of those migratory birds can be real a**holes (that's you, geese), but let's not kill them. So, what do we do with this? We can:... - donate to organizations like @flapcanada - turn off our lights after dark - make our windows as safe as possible for birds - learn how to properly assist injured birds - spread the word FLAP Canada has great resources for all these, and more ways to protect your local bird life. #birdlife #birds #birdphotography #canadagoose #canadageese #migration #springmigration #birdsafe #migratorybirds

This woodpecker reminds me of my aunt's old Brittany spaniel, Beau. A black and white bundle of soft feathers and INTENSITY. #woodpecker #hairywoodpecker #bird birdwatching #birdphotography #birdlife #forestphotography #forest #naturephotography #focused

Mowing Robert Frost There was never a sound beside the wood but one, And that was my long scythe whispering to the ground.... What was it it whispered? I knew not well myself; Perhaps it was something about the heat of the sun, Something, perhaps, about the lack of sound And that was why it whispered and did not speak. It was no dream of the gift of idle hours, Or easy gold at the hand of fay or elf: Anything more than the truth would have seemed too weak To the earnest love that laid the swale in rows, Not without feeble-pointed spikes of flowers (Pale orchises), and scared a bright green snake. The fact is the sweetest dream that labor knows. My long scythe whispered and left the hay to make. See more

I love the way maple keys are neither opaque nor transparent. It's like their delicacy and their toughness: contradictory qualities that come together in these small, perfect objects. #maplekeys #ohcanada #sunset #mapletree #stilllife #naturephotography #forestphotography

I think she's done, folks. There are things I like about her and things I don't, and I want to sort out the latter on a new canvas. #painting #oilpainting #artistsoninstagram #montrealartist #canadianartist #botanical #natureart #illustrator #maplekeys

Even in the middle of winter, these mushrooms keep growing. I find this amazing. #mushrooms #fungi #botanical #ohcanada #winterwalks #winterwoods #winter #forestphotography #forest

Work in progress - maple keys. First time in years that I've touched oils, and they're feeling unfamiliar indeed. #painting #mapletrees #winterwoods #winter #forestphotography #oilpaint #canadianartist #montrealartist #ohcanada
