Little sister, big sister combo! A custom made birthday gift, the Tui Pinafore dress (pattern by Below the Kwhai) for my little best one year old friend, hacked a little to be reversible with a thin corduroy on one side and a woven cotton in this floral on the other. And because it’s REALLY hard to be four years old and watch your baby sister get all the birthday presents, I wanted to make her a matching gift too - and Below the Kowhai’s little friends bag pattern f...it the bill! I made it with the same fabrics and she loves it, and she’s had a matching mask made since as well!! So happy with this set and have so many more pinafores on the to-sew list as well!

There has been a LOT of behind the scenes sewing going on in the last couple of weeks, and I am ridiculously happy to share the news with you now!! The incredible new store, Juniper which opened here in Uptown Saint John last week has a collection of handmade baby and toddler clothes by me!!! Sew Lah Tea Dough!!! Putting together this collection for the new sustainable living and refillery store is a DREAM!! Even before we met at the Lupine Night Market quite by accid...ent I was so excited for them to open! The shop is beautiful and bright, I want to buy one of everything in there, and now it has MY clothes in it for sale!!! Sewing up 12 bonnets, 12 bloomers, 10 rompers and 3 dresses was a whirlwind but you know me, I love a good deadline!! ... And now, back to regularly scheduled other sewing projects!!!

Introducing... my new Doodle Masks! I've had an idea for these for a little while now, and it's been a lot of fun working on it, checking it works, and ... success! Draw on them, wash and dry, and then draw on them again!! Perfect for your little ones at daycare or school, or as a fun way to boost them if they *have* to wear one at any time.... Below you'll see the photos of the before, during and after washing for these masks. We started with the plain white fabric pre-made mask in child sizes large and small, and got to doodling using washable, non-toxic markers! I then washed them on cool in a delicate wash with a "usual" batch of laundry, and this got 90% of the pen off (just a stubborn pink that stayed!) - however, 30 minutes in the sun on the clothing line drying got them bright white again and no pen was visible! (Disclaimer - Of course washing routines will vary, but this is what worked for me, and I'm sure on a hotter and heavier spin cycle it would be even better!) Children's Doodle masks will be lined in navy blue or light pink and ready within 48 hours of your order ready for pick up or to mail out. Comment here or send me a message for more details. NEW FABRIC UPDATE!! I've been having a lot of requests for more black and white, and blue in my masks so here it is! I'm trying something different this week, and so, if you're still in the market for a new mask and would like it made in one of these three fabrics (blue squiggles is a bit more blue than is shown in the photo), please let me know in this post here, or by messaging me and they will be ready to mail out or pick up within 48 hours Masks can be made in Adu...lt Large, Adult Medium, Adult Small, Child Large and Child Small. Friday Update!! It's been a busy week of a LOT of sewing projects, and looking at these numbers, it's time to start sewing masks again!! Within the next week or two I'm aiming to get a batch of Adult Large and Medium masks sewn up, as well as a few more in darker prints for the Children's sizes - I'll let you all know as soon as they're ready! What's been your favourite style/colours so far?!

Oops I missed my Friday update! But here it is... Some sizes are running low, and many sizes are sold out now but here's how it looks right now! I'm still working on custom (non-mask) orders and our little one's 3rd birthday sewing but I'll plan a new big batch of masks for in a couple of weeks time when I'm all caught up! In light of the new NB guideline coming on Tuesday, please just remember that masks are free for healthcare workers, and always 'pay what you can' for everybody - since the beginning I have wanted to keep them accessible to all

No new for-sale masks have been sewn up this week (sorry!) but the sewing machine has been whirring on other projects that I'll be able to share soon... But masks are still for sale, and are starting to sell out so here's an update on what's available right now

Hi all, thank you SO much for your support over the past 5 weeks - more than 300 masks have been made and donated or sold, to many, many local New Brunswickers... Lots of Ontario packages have gone out... I've had a couple of packages make their way to Alberta and even one down to Texas!! I've decided to take a few weeks off of masks to get some other sewing done (2 beautiful custom bonnets were delivered today, the fabrics that were chosen were SO great, I have a couple of... pattern tests on the way, and I have some birthday sewing for my almost-3-year old to do as well!) but I'm here and have lots still available if you're still in need of a mask, especially as more shops open up around here. Here's a list of all styles still available and in which sizes (a few are now sold out)... and you can find photos of all styles here as well!
