Chuck is a master craftsman when it comes to working with a variety of leathers. Each piece crafted by hand and unique in their own right. Chuck recently had this to say about his work: Earth and Hide was started out of my need to create, first pottery, then leather goods. My work was valid...ated by feedback from family and friends, then friends of friends, then strangers at markets, then strangers online. I went from working on the living room floor to building a workspace and running out of room in the basement. I went from taking almost a half a dozen hours to hand stitch a tote to whipping them out on a sewing machine. I've spent a lot on tools and materials along the way. But that's not what's made Earth and Hide successful. It's the "why" that's made me successful. The why I do what I do. The why is almost never "Because I'm good at it" or "Because there's money in it". The why for me with Earth and Hide is to inspire hope and the benefits of mental health through craft work. The why will give you a way to serve customers instead of treating them like walking ATM machines. And there you have it. It’s about more that just being good at what you do.
