An important feature to the re-design of this farmhouse was to capture the surrounding views of the Cowichan Valley countryside with strategically placed windows. The result is that the interior of the home is as bright and cheerful as the exterior! Design: Andrea Burrell Design Photo: Matthew James Photo
The foundation wall construction is well underway at our west coast modern lake-house build on the shores of Cowichan Lake. Being built on 5 acres of land, with almost 100 feet of waterfront and adjacent to parkland this home will be the perfect summer escape from the busyness of City life. Design: Ryan Hoyt Designs Inc.
Happy Family Day! Working in the building industry provides us with the opportunity to build homes and/or transform spaces. Each home tells a story and we are so grateful that our clients entrust us in the process of telling their story. We love the wallpaper our clients chose in the powder room of their beautiful family home. This modern farmhouse is a complete custom renovation to transform an existing rural house into a home that was suitable for our clients’ growing fami...ly and lifestyle. Happy Valentine’s Day! We wanted to take some time to introduce the heart behind Made to Last Custom Homes. First up is Steve and Nicole the husband and wife duo who began Made to Last Custom Homes. Valentines Day holds a very special place in their family as three important events took place on this day. Fifteen years ago it was the day Steve & Nicole got engaged, three years later on Valentines day they packed up their lives from Calgary, Alberta and made the move to Vanc...ouver Island. Other than being close to family this turned out to be the best decision they made as the island is one of the best places to live on earth. (If you don’t already know this we invite you to take a trip out once it is safe to do so!) Today also marks the tenth anniversary of Made to Last Custom Homes. Hard work, dedication and integrity continue to be the motto Steve and his incredible team have committed to and have worked their way to building quality luxury custom homes in the Cowichan Valley and amongst the Gulf Islands. The MTL team consists of 19 men and women with the same dedication to the values and vision that MTL was built upon. Steve and Nicole have three daughters and have worked hard to create a business that values family time as well as building timeless homes for modern families. They enjoy their home in the beautiful Cowichan Valley and feel very blessed even during lockdown to live on this beautiful island. They make sure to take advantage of the ocean, mountains, warm climate and the endless exploring that Vancouver Island offers. We are living in very trying times and many of you have had to readjust priorities - we want you to know our dedication and resilience will continue. When it is safe we invite you to visit our new office which was opened prior to the pandemic last year. Our office showcases many of our custom home features and we would love to have a coffee and chat with you! We will be featuring the rest of the MTL team in the coming months please stay tuned, we welcome any questions, comments or suggestions. Hope you have a wonderful day cherishing the loved ones in your life!
Have fun with colour on your cabinetry! We love the navy blue in this shared bathroom for the kids at our Lake House project. Photo: Matthew James Photo
Board and batten siding, angled roof lines and timber beams covering the front entrance complement the surroundings of this West Coast modern home. Swipe through to check out the floor plans of this home. What do you think of the master bedroom being in the basement? Photo: Matthew James Photo
Awesome giveaway to spread some love this Valentine's Day! #supportlocal #giveaway #downtownduncan

While the locker system is a hot trend right now, it doesn't make sense for everybody. In this home we built the back entrance with double closets and open shelving giving this couple a lot of storage space as well as a little bench in the nook to put shoes on. What would you prefer... closets or open lockers? Photo: Matthew James Photo
En-SWEET ll Each home we build has unique challenges and no two lots we build on are the same. When you hire Made to Last we work closely with a home design team to curate a plan that works for the unique lot you have chosen, to take advantage of the views and focus on what is most important to you as the client. This custom designed and built home in Crofton has the master bedroom and ensuite in the walk out basement. The top floor of this home was designated for kitchen, dining, living, mudroom and an office. Whereas the basement has the media room and master suite with a free standing bathtub and a curb-less walk in shower. Photo: Matthew James Photo
It's all in the details... Made to Last works with only the best tradespeople and materials to build top quality homes. We commit to building your house exactly the way you want it, and we will work with you until that goal is achieved. Design: Andrea Burrell Design Photo: Matthew James Photo
