Are you constantly worrying about your blood sugars while you are exercising?? Well punch those fears away! Exercise and blood sugars are a very complex idea. It takes a lot of trial and error to figure out how your blood sugars will react to exercise. Even after 14 years with type 1, I still havesome struggles. This is of course completely normal as there are SO many factors besides exercise that can affect your blood sugars ( but that is a whole different topic). ... - Typically aerobic exercise ( walking, running , biking etc) tend to bring down the blood sugar while anaerobic exercise ( weight lifting, HIIT, sprints,etc) tend to bring up your blood sugars because they are more intense. That being said, everyone’s body is different and may react to exercise differently! This is why it is so important to check your blood sugars when working out and ALWAYS be prepared! - For me, I use to only do cardio and I never really understood why my blood sugars would drop during my workout BUT within the past couple years I have started mixing up my training by including both aerobic and anaerobic workouts into my routine! This has helped my blood sugars stabilize and also helped with insulin sensitivity! - If you want more tips about how to properly manage your blood sugars while working out, DM me! Happy Monday!!! Today I decided I would share some info about me and explain why I wanted to become a personal trainer in the first place! To start off I was an elite athlete growing up and I have had a passion for sports ever since! I have always known I wanted to do something in the fitness industry! When I was 12 I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and I seriously thought the world was ending! The little device on my arm is my Dexcom and it makes managing this so much ea...sier! anyways after having diabetes for over 14 years I realized it has made me who I am today! It is actually what sparked my fire to become a PT. My mission as a trainer is to use my education and expertise to help other type 1‘s live the best life they can and be happy and healthy!
