Bad grading around the house can be a huge part of water damage in your basement. When getting quotes make sure to have them look at all aspects of potential water damage causing problems includi...ng grading, weeping tile, foundation etc. Installing a sump barrel and pump in your basement will help to keep water out of your basement if you don’t already have one. Older houses tend to not have sump pumps. Flower beds against the house are also bad. They don’t shed rain very well, causing water damage.
