Fret leveling and crowning on a C.F. Martin Mini. Tedious work masking off the fingerboard, but one little ooops with a fret file can add way more unnecessary time repairing a scratched fingerboard. This is a new instrument but the customer found the frets a little high and rough on the cant sides. No problem ... just patience and a steady hand.
Fixing and restoring instruments has its great moments ... like taking an inexpensive banjo or guitar .... affectionately referred to as "student models" and tu...rning them into really playable tone busters. Yes there are many great pro models out there for the working musician, but you can wring out a lot of good music on the student models with a good set up and some extra TLC. See more
If you're a guitar, uke, or banjo player and your fingers are sore from playing ... here's a thought; maybe it's not you. High string height (what we call "acti...on") is the main cause of sore fingers and achy hands and wrists. We can fix this with a simple set up.
