That's basically a tactic that most people do in order to get you to buy their stuff. If you go on the Facebook Marketplace and someone is selling a computer and they tell you DM them for pricing, that's basically them telling you they don't want you to scroll past their product and just look at the price and never message them, they want you to feel obligated to buy their product if you actually message them for the actual price. Since you've already messaged them they have ...your information they can actually continue to message you and try to convince you to actually buy the product which is something they're trying to do. It's all about getting you obligated to buy it because you've already made the first move of contacting them. Vendors give discounts in their business and They advertise them but Vendors don’t want my competitor to know my exact pricing. To do this, Thats why vendors ask they call for an estimate per hour etc. If I used DM for pricing (Direct Message for pricing) I can make a customer price just for them. Competitors have a habit of copying other vendors Most of us are . Customers want to know is Vendor trustworthy or not .
