MailleTec is proud to announce that some of our mesh will be in 'The Great Wall' starring Matt Damon, Tian Jing, Willem Dafoe, Andy Lau and Pedro Pascal. We worked on this project with TheRingLord.com in early 2015 and we're excited to finally see it on the big screen. We've been pretty busy over the past while and forgot to mention the awesome time we had at the local 4H sale. MailleTec was proud to help support local clubs and we want to thank Derek Doerksen of the Herbert Grazers 4H Club for all his hard work!

We're excited to announce we'll have some of our work in the upcoming Warcraft movie! We worked with TheRingLord.com and Weta Workshop on costuming for the film and can't wait to see the results in theatres! MailleTec is excited to have our work shown in Seventh Son - featuring Julianne Moore and Jeff Bridges! Our blackened mesh was used on the horsed knights' costumes and our scale maille was used for one of Mother Malkin's (Julianne Moore) main costumes. Originally MailleTec had created a custom full length scale gown - but unfortunately it wasn't worn on-screen (though it might have made it in as a background prop). Originally the Seventh Son designers wanted Julianne Moore's character - Mother Malkin - to be wearing a full length scale mail gown. We spent months creating this one of a kind piece using a customized dress form and cloth pattern to make sure the tailoring was as precise as it could be. There is almost no stretch in scale maille fabric so getting a proper fit is not easy. The arms and shoulders were especially challenging, however we think the results were stunning! In the... end however the dress wasn’t worn on screen. The skirt portion alone weighed around 30 lbs, and wearing it during prolonged shooting hours and during stunt work just wasn’t practical. We were told it might end up being used as a background prop, so keep your eyes open! Since 7th Son was filming in British Columbia, MailleTec’s Dane Duncan flew over to create a last minute custom piece on location. The result was the gorgeous black scale maille bodice piece seen on screen. The original dress was donated to the FIT museum in New York. See more

MailleTec Scale Maille in The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies! MailleTec was thrilled to notice some of our work on-screen again in The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies. Our scale maille was very briefly visible in the last installment The Desolation of Smaug, and we weren’t expecting it to make an appearance in the final Hobbit film, however it can be seen on many of the Mirkwood Elves. MailleTec’s work was on Game of Thrones again last Sunday! Our mesh was on Oberyn Martell’s arms during his fight against Gregor Clegane. WARNING: SPOILERS AND POTENTIALLY NSFW SCENES IN VIDEO! The fight itself was in place of a trial for Tyrion Lannister, who is accused of murder. Oberyn Martell (the Red Viper) represents Tyrion while Gregor Clegane (the Mountain) represents the Crown. Tyrion is hoping to be ‘acquitted’ while Oberyn wants justice against Gregor for murderin...g his sister and her children.
