#ThrowBackThursday we have some big sandboxes. This one is at our #5 Rd. Depot. When we dredge the river we push the sand up into huge piles like this, letting the water drain out. Usually we have around 170-200 tonnes dredged before we break into a pile like we have here. Things like: 3-point contact, wearing appropriate PPE earmuffs, glasses, gloves. Following SJP (safe job procedures) for working around mobile equipment, using hand signals, and securing loads all contribute to a safe working environment. Because of this sweet operation in our quarry, were able to create at least 7 different products at once as well as transporting the material directly to our barges via a conveyor belt. Thats what we call efficient! #MainlandProud #MainlandCM

Wildlife Wednesday at Cox Quarry! We erected three osprey nesting poles as the birds were originally trying to make nests on high voltage wires. We did not want any fried ospreys so we created some better digs for them! There pairs made them their homes and now six baby ospreys grow up at our quarry every year! #MainlandProud #MainlandCM

Safety Tip Tuesday! Sam rocking the proper PPE for the job. He is prepping for paving by blowing off excess materials. Any activity that creates dust can expose workers to the mineral silica which can be very harmful to the lungs. We work hard together to keep the dust down with water trucks, respirators on and do air monitoring of the potential exposure area. Stay safe and PPE up! #MainlandProud #Winvan #MainlandCM

Fun fact: we have three depots that do river sand dredging ie: sucking up the sand from the bottom of the river and hosing it into a shallow pit to be pushed into piles by these dozers to dry. This helps ships to pass up the Fraser River and not hit the bottom as sand and silt builds up every year and we also get to help our wonderful customers get some great river sand! #MainlandProud #MainlandCM

Fun Fact Friday! Our quarry in Abbotsford is right on the Fraser River so we are able to utilize barges to carry aggregates down the river to our different depots. This enables us to lower our carbon foot print as one barge would be equivalent to around 100 truck and transfers! #MainlandProud #MainlandCM
