Frankenrug. Great colours ! Repair.... First created from cutting down and patching, piecing, in every direction Circa early 1900s. Repaired roughly through many decades. 2020 > put it all together solidly again. ‘As is’, lock ends. Aunt Henrietta loved this rug like no other. I am preserving that feeling and respect that the relatives had for her. ( and her rug from New York )

Many times we see just a handful of knots sparsely placed at the end of Some Afghan and Belouch rugs. Perhaps in haste, they are a quick cheap finish. Unfortunately they allow structure to become loose and wear more quickly. My favourite solid repair is a fine lock knotting in waxed Irish linen cord which will keep it neat and tidy for decades.
