Tonight at 7pm at High Tides Theatre Free Admission - All Ages Part of the Maitland Launch Festival 2018 concert performances
A touch of colour on a grey day Town criers from the Nova Scotia Guild of Town Criers competed in Maitland, Hants County last weekend during Launch Day festivi...ties, adding extra cheer to the day. Anita Benedict, official town crier for the Municipality of East Hants, hosted her fellow guild members. The theme was, appropriately, Women in the Age of Sail. Two new criers performed to warm applause but did not compete: Will Brewer, Old Town Halifax crier, and Maura Scranton, junior crier from Annapolis Royal, mentored by seasoned crier, Peter Davies. Truro Daily Coverage
The Launch Festival continues this Sunday with THE SADIES in Concert at High Tides Theatre! Sunday, Sept 30th You don't want to miss this!! "The Sadies bring their signature blend of country, psychedelic, rock and surf into rifle-scope focus on Internal Sounds, further underscoring their reputations as musicians’ musicians. Always at the top of the list when discussing musical chops and live intensity, The Sadies are now more intent than ever on making their mark as songwri...ters. In one turn as heavy as a sledge, and on the other flitting across melodies with the ease of so many sparrows, The Sadies prove once again that denying them now is simply prolonging your conversion. So go on, pull up that screeching wooden chair that bows with your weight. Slide it up next to the turntable and drop the needle, "The Sadies are a sure thing... tomorrow isn't."

Today is the day and the weather is being a pain but it is supposed to clear. I am sure John will go ahead with the parade, what's a little rain and wind! As for other events....visit the museum- free admission. We shall see who can set up. We can go ahead with the Youth Town Crier Event at 1 pm and the adult Comp at 2. If we move to the theatre/church come find us.... The whisky barrel races can go forward. It's going to be sunny then! Please take a drive to come support the Hants North 2020 Travel group with their Bbq and bake sale. They are the ones I worry about. :) Will keep posting updates as I hear from organizers. See more
A very successful Community Social! Visiting Town Criers, visitors from Minnesota and great people from the community. Thanks to Owen Robert's for pulling it all together. Great talent by Kevin and Catherine, Glenroy, Bill and Owen. Thank you to our volunteers and thank you all for coming, I think we need to to that more often!
The social is in full swing! Stop on in.
Maitland Launch Festival begins tomorrow evening!
Everyone is watching the weather closely. Its has been hard for our weather forecaster to predict our crazy weather patterns. Keep fingers crossed for no rain! The only thing we can guarantee a dry venue is the Social and Competition! The Crier Competition will continue at High Tides Centre theater building should rain hit. Uniforms can not get damp. Watch this space for updates. And think positive weather thoughts.
Spoke with the organizers today. This event is NOT to be missed. Very creative ideas. Guaranteed to entertain. Thanks to the Hants North Recreation and Development Association for working with us on this.
After months of planning we are in the final few days. Helping plan this event has given me an even greater respect for not-for-profit groups who work so diligently with a limited budget of funds and time to create events for community.
Save the date! Join us at High Tides for a concert with The Mud Flats. Maitland Launch Festival events continue into October - even after the ship has sailed!
Two great radio hosts. Always welcoming! Can't wait to share their crys. Well done!
Just over a week to go! Lots going on next weekend but we hope to see a few come out and say hello! Buy a hot dog or baked goods to send our youth travelling like the sailors of long ago.
