From the road, it doesn't look like we have done much in the past year, and certainly we have been slowed down many times because of these shutdowns, but yesterday I walked around (in the glorious sunshine!) to the back to get some pics to show that there has been progress on this construction project despite all the COVID challenges. Patience and perseverance will win the day! Grateful to all our Maitland Tower crew who have been rolling with the constant changes in schedules.

Meet Walker, our lead Gardener, with a fine looking pumpkin. Walker did the bulk of the work this summer to steward our garden. Not what he expected on the Maitland crew this year, but we are grateful he was so flexible and keen! . Like so many in the community, we have been growing vegetables to donate - mainly to South Grenville Food Bank, also to the collaboration between Loaves and Fishes Brockville and Common Ground Brockville, Leeds & Grenville Interval House, and the ...Merrickville Emergency Food Cupboard. . This wasn't what we had planned for 2020 - though growing food on the property was always part of our future. When COVID hit we regrouped, and set about to get the garden started early. We planted over 6,000 square feet, and as of last Friday we had harvested and donated over 220 pounds of food! We are not done yet - lots (and LOTS) of potatoes still need to come out, and a few other veggies too. . Stay tuned for a final harvest report, and ideas on what we hope to do next year. . #growarow #leavenoonebehind #strongertogether #community See more
