We want to announce that Maizal is not operating currently. We want to thank you for your support these past 6 years. Con mucho amor.
Been a long time since we've been wanting to get more of this conversation going. Check out the first part in our blog segment of "What is Maíz?" We will probably add some things to the blog (wanted to add images of teocintle, but unlike the rest of our collection we don't have any and would have to throw something from the internet, and not sure how copyright stuff works yet haha). AND if you are really interested, look out for our next Noche de Maíz event coming soon. Read up on http://www.themasaboy.ca/blog

Have you read Canada's national food guide? What do you think about it? Drink mostly water, learn to cook, reduce #foodwaste and consume vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and plant based protein foods are the big ones that standout for us. It also tells us how important it is to know where and who your food comes from... with Maizal, that is easy peezy. https://food-guide.canada.ca/en/

The restaurant is still closed but we are back in Farmers Markets, see you today at Sorauren Farmers Market from 3pm to 7pm. We are serving hot tamalitos and atoles. If you also need catering or book a private event contact us for mor information.
We make different batches of #nixtamal because we have different #heirloom maiz varieties. Lately we've used a lot of purple and yellow. Here you can see when we switch out one batch and add another, the #tortillas get "smeared" with the other variety of maíz. #nixtamalli #GrownLocally #NonGMO
Thanks The Eco Hub for featuring us on Toronto's zero waste shopping guide https://theecohub.ca/zero-waste-shopping-guide-toronto/

For those that were interested in the blog we constantly updated on the Maizal website (where we went a little more in depth into our farm work, the story behind our food, and our R & D work in Mexico) we have moved it. You can now read up on these subjects and more at themasaboy.ca
