This is a fantastic venue for equally great work..definitely a must do!
Art show over, back to classes. Such serious students Jack, Gail, Vera and Rick goofing off (Lloyd too) instead of painting. At least Gail and Rick got back to work

One of Judy's prairie scenes. It will be at the Group of Friends art show June 25/26 at Nanoose Place Community Centre. Hope to see everyone there.
Lloyd has been very busy. The bird paintings are from photos he took on one our walks in Wakamow Park right in the city of Moose Jaw last spring. No the bear was not in the park!
The afternoon class (minus 3) were very busy.
Still drying! Lloyd has been busy. 24x48 oil on canvas
We want to thank Julie Russell owner of BillboardWebServices.com. for all her support and help both personally and professionally over the years.
Lloyd and I have just completed our new website! With some help ( & Go Daddy) we did it! Please visit at www.majorandmaxwellart.ca and enjoy
The afternoon class is just as energetic! Students from Nanaimo, Courtenay, Parksville, along with one from Flin Flon (here for the winter).
Off and running for the morning art class. Both morning and afternoon classes are filled and we are really loving the room. Morning class has a "winter snowbird"from Saskatchewan.Great light, coffee, music and most importantly, talented artists at work.
Take a visit to Cafe Adagio, in Parksville, where the food is great, the people are super friendly, plus the paintings are not bad either. Thanks to Mark and staff
Merry Christmas and a healthy happy new year to all our friends.
This is Lloyd's latest commission piece, going to a lovely lady (as soon as a stump is added).
These are quick shots from the gallery here at the house in Parksville, also one of Lloyd working (NOT on a self portrait).
Boo hoo I can't insert a photo in the profile! I press on the spot and nothing happens!
The major part of the latest storm hit Victoria area with quite a bit of flooding. Parksville just had a windy grey day.
Here we are, unpacking done, and now we can walk the boardwalk and paint. Hope everyone is painting too.
Retirement is great. Lloyd is painting, but, also watching all the birds from his favourite perch
No painting no unpacking Lloyd is getting an ulcer watching the Blue Jays!! It sure takes longer to unpack than to pack. Maybe the boxes could be "objects d'art" and stay where they are!
Here we are in our own home again, amid boxes and more boxes! Who knew we had so much stuff! We had a successful, safe trip with no smoke to speak of. We had a couple of good visits with friends and family and then made the ferry on Tues. the 8th. Another week and we should be pretty much settled in. We can be reached at [email protected]. To all our great friends in Moose Jaw keep painting, and keep in touch.
Well this is the last weekend in Moose Jaw for us. We are happy to be retiring, but, are already missing the gallery and the fun. Not to worry though, we are off on another stage of life, with all that brings. Thanks again to everyone who helped make the gallery so successful.
Not everyone could be here, but, here are some of Lloyd's "favourite students" gathering at the gallery Sunday afternoon. As Lloyd said in his remarks, " it has been a pleasure to teach everyone, and please don't lose your love of painting. Do it as often as you can, the more you do it, the easier it is to do." We were so happy to have everyone, young and old, be there to remember the fun we all had at the gallery we all loved. For those who were not able attend the gallery will be open next week in the afternoons. Again thank you all for your best wishes.
The very last art student in Moose Jaw, Cathy, lost in her reeds.
The last Saturday morning class in Moose Jaw. Amie with her flowers, newest student Richelle and her birches, Lisa and her lady in the boat, finally Patrick and his salmon going against the current.
Unfortunately, with the extreme heat this week, here, in Moose Jaw, the gallery will only be open 9- noon Wed-Sat.. Sorry for any inconvenience, but, it is just too hot.
Just a quick reminder that there is one more week in our effort to raise funds for the Hunger Moose Jaw program providing school lunches here in the Moose Jaw area. We are donating 20% of paintings sold to this much needed program. If an original oil painting is in your future, come visit us at the gallery. We will be closed Monday and open the rest do the week.
Well, after 3 years in the gallery it is time to retire. We came to a city which we didn't know, set up a business in a month, and had 20 students to start art classes. To say the business has done well would be an understatement. It has far exceeded our expectations. If we were younger we would not think of leaving. The fact is we are too old for a 7 day week. Moose Jaw has been very good to us. The gallery has been a perfect working gallery. People from all over the world ...have come in, watched artists at work, and often left with a piece of art. Lloyd has been very pleased to share his wonderful teaching skills with so many people who have never painted before. We will always remember our days here - and miss the friends and lively times. The sun, the beautiful skies we have painted so often, and the gallery itself. We will, of course, continue to paint and Lloyd will teach ONE day a week once we are settled back on Vancouver island. We will be the old folks sitting on a log at the beach. The gallery will be closed Aug.31,2015. See more
During the first 2 weeks in August...we at the Major and Maxwell Art Gallery are donating 20% of all painting sales to the Hunger Moose Jaw charity. They provide free lunches at the schools, here in Moose Jaw. Come in, purchase a painting and support a great cause all at the same time. WE ARE OPEN MONDAY Aug. 3......9-4
Grace paints on and then relaxes...beautiful floral
A mini painting discussion at the gallery. First Lloyd suggests
Happy Birthday to THE MAJOR, a very special man.
Ahh they are working to the rocking sounds of Elvis in the building!
Now Lloyd I think the idea to be looking at the students work!
Hope everyone read the article the Times Herald did on us today (Wed), concerning our retirement this September. Our big gallery news is that with any painting sold Aug.1-15/15 we will donate 20% to the Hunger Moose Jaw charity. While it is shocking that it is needed in this day and age, it is and there are wonderful volunteers preparing lunches every day so students don't go hungry.
After a great tour of the Badlands (highly recommend) we had a busy Canada Day here at the gallery. Today is the start of Sidewalk Days (Thurs-Sat), and it is hopping! The smoke isn't a problem, the sun is staying under a cloud, so everyone is in a festive mood - even us. Come on down and join in the fun.
Just to let everyone know - the gallery will be closed Sunday June 28th we are Big Muddy Bound!! Finally we get to visit this great area full of history. Lloyd has been wanting to go since we arrived in Moose Jaw. We are also closed on Monday as usual. Open again Tuesday at 10am.
Work in progress is progressing. I love the start if my tractor.
After feeling uninspired (at least one of us) with colds, we are finally back at it. Both are works in progress
Gracie has made it back to the gallery. Only 12 days left of school and she can start her art classes for he summer during the day rather than 4-5:30!!!! Yipee.
What a wonderful, bright, workspace. Hard to get all 11 artists at their easels, but, we tried. Again a great Inspiring time was had by all.
What a wonderful time we had at NorVa in Flin Flon Manitoba. We had a technique class, (2) 3 hour workshops and then added help with whatever the artists needed. What an energetic group. Thanks to everyone especially Ron and Raye for making it such an enjoyable time. More photos to follow.
Long weekend Sunday afternoon workshop. Today the subject was techniques for painting trees. I think they all passed!

Finally! Gracie is back in the gallery. She is threatening to title her latest painting "Lloydy" after you know who.
Sunday afternoon techniques at the gallery and the "water" workshop is hard at it. They will start with calm water with reflections and then to rough and then REALLY rough with spray etc.. More later
Lloyd is doing a fantastic job - almost finished
Ever watchful teacher at the ready. Lloyd has Charlie Musselwhite playing and it doesn't get much better than this for Sat.morning at the gallery.
Not deterred by the rainy morning, Lisa is brightening things up with sunflowers
