Our client goals was to update the kitchen layout to something more functional. The client found the dated upper cabinets to be oppressive and cut off the space in adjacent areas. During our first meeting we discussed installing a larger window to incorporate the wonderful views and wildlife in the back yard. We discussed changing the layout to include an island, a coffee station, and a serving counter for beverages. We also talked about the collection of small appliances and how they needed dedicated storage. We collaborated over several review meetings and produced a plan that ticked all the boxes!

There are some key pieces and treasures in most clients lives that make their houses feel like home. This is a perfect representation of how you can integrate those pieces into your renovation. In this feature wall we added an electric linear fire place with a modern stone to compliment the adjacent kitchen, and the wood carving that was very dear to the client found its permanent home in the empty space above.

Most people expect that there should be a window above your sink - but there doesnt have to be! This client didnt have a window above her sink before so she was use to this concept. With a little extra task lighting, its just as bright as it would be if there were a window above. You also have less restrictions when it comes to the faucet because you dont have to worry about it interfering with the window crank.

Sometimes a few details make simple spaces something really special. In this dining room, our client had a piece of metal art that she wanted incorporated and coincidentally picked out a statement light fixture that tied the two together perfectly. The built-in buffet houses all of their dinnerware which allows more cupboard space in the kitchen for cookware.

If youve browsed our website, you may recognize this photo as its pretty prominent. We love this alcove because it has a little bit of everything! This space takes you from day to night with the coffee press, espresso machine, bar fridge, wine, along with all of the glasses + mugs that you need. Because its a smaller space we were able to use a busier tile without it being overwhelming. The smoked glass on the upper cabinets is another favourite feature of ours in this space, and the puck lights add a little extra dimension.

So many people love the look of vessel sinks, but the functionality of them can be tricky - especially in a house of kids. Semi-recessed sinks are a great compromise to achieve this modern look without adding huge height to your work space in the bathroom.

Small kitchens and the size of todays appliances arent always an ideal match, but in a lot of cases, we can make them work. In this kitchen, the fridge encroaches a bit on the patio - but thanks to the recessed cabinets beside it, it doesnt interfere with the functionality of the window. Best of all, its not super obvious when looking through the kitchen either. We even managed to squeeze in a floor to ceiling wine rack!

In this cozy living room we have a marble feature wall that houses a fire place with a floating shelf and the TV mounted above. The build out allowed us to keep this looking clean & modern which mirrors the tone of the rest of the space. It also allowed room for built-in millwork to display the clients most treasured pieces. All in the details: the marble tile is the same tile we used for their kitchen backsplash - only in a matte finish instead of gloss so that the pot light above wouldnt cause a glare.

Renovations can be overwhelming, but they dont have to be!

Every kitchen needs a spot for garbage & recycling, but lets be honest.. under the sink doesnt have enough space - especially in a family home. Theres never a good spot for them to be out of the way. Its become increasingly popular to find a full cabinet to tuck away the essential eyesore of the kitchen. Who knew that such a simple concept could improve the way we clean up! + it keeps the pets out, too.

Can you tell that this bright space is actually in a basement? This little alcove houses the cutest French door wine fridge. Did you know that you cant put just any mini fridge into cabinetry space? Most mini fridges require space around for ventilation at the back of the fridge. Wine fridges are equipped with the venting at the toe kick so that you can enclose them without worrying about the compressor living a short life. They are well worth the investment!

Before our clients trusted us to step in and help them out, they use to have cabinets in a u-shape with dark counters which made the space feel very closed in. We changed up the cabinet configuration to open up the kitchen area and moved the fridge to make the work-triangle space more functional. Theres no feeling claustrophobic in this bright kitchen

With having a stove top in the island for this kitchen, the cabinetry under the stove is only 12 deep. It may not seem like much, but its the perfect amount of space for those go-to items while youre cooking - keeping the clutter off of the counter top.
